US 41
A young man fears that by going too slow he risks missing something.
An older man knows that by going too fast he risks missing
everything.

By Sharon I. Smith (Sharons) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 07:36 am:

Oh, well, I guess it was a tie. Pretty darn close, though. It isn't likely to happen again until I'm traveling again.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 07:51 am:

An A for effort Sharon.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 07:59 am:

Good morning! Go away to throw a load of laundry in, and what happens but the pasty pictures come up.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE the 2000 and the 2002 pictures. Great!

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 08:09 am:

I now realize I should have posted US-41 instead of Highway 41. So maybe Charlie should move that early bird to a tie for Kosk and Sharon.

By Iron Range Dave (Blackhawk) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 08:26 am:

JH, As far as I'm concerned, You da Winner! Charlie all ready said in the question it is a US highway. Just the number meets the requirement for me but then I don't run the contest!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 08:47 am:

Good Morning, so many good pictures in the decade. 1 month until my workplace is a ghost town for that deer camp.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 09:13 am:

How many of you have actually been on the Delaware Mine tour?? While the mining methods are mostly the same as at other mines (Quincy, Adventure, etc...), the rock they mined in is totally different.....

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 10:20 am:

We have Capt, and we saw bats! Taylor thought that was cool.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 10:46 am:

I took a tour of the Delaware Mine when they had a tour guide to go with you. It was pretty cool. Some friends of ours who came up to visit us- while we were visiting my mom, wanted to take the tour, but he was not willing to pay the price without a tour guide, which was his loss.

Has anybody been in the Delaware Mine during Halloween? They did it as a haunted house type deal.

By Bob Williams (Wabbit) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 11:19 am:

Capt. Paul, My late brother and I have toured that mine every year for the last 25 years. The Poynters have been gracious enough to leave us down there for up to 2 hours at a time. While they were self guided tours, we gave many tours to people who came down in the mine while we were still down there. Unfortunately, I never got to walk down the Stoutenberg Fissure before its collapse.

By Ken, Kalamazoo, MI (Kenkazoo) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 12:28 pm:

We did the self-guided tour at the Delaware when we were UP last week. We were down there all alone except for a few of the bats that were still flying around. It was pretty cool; definitely gave you a feel for what the miners may have gone through.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 10:17 pm:

Delaware is a great tour, both guided and self-guided. I haven't been in there in years though. Maybe when the Dr and I are up there next summer we'll have to go on a tour.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 - 11:21 pm:

Does the Delaware Mine still have that piece of copper that everybody use to reach up and touch?
