Typical weather for March in the Keweenaw, still plenty of snow on the ground as these photos from Aladino Mandoli illustrate here. It looks like Dino was doing a bit of late season skiing on the Maasto Hiihto trails in Hancock when he snapped these shots. With Spring's arrival only a few days away, the melt has begun, but still has a ways to go before we'll actually be experiencing spring-like weather. Note, in the first shot of the bridge over the creek, he smartly included a bit of greenery to commemorate St. Patrick's Day today.

TOP O' DA MORNING TO ALL

May ye be in heaven a half hour before the devil
knows your dead! A good ole Irish Blessing.

Thank you!!!

And..
Anam Cara is celtic for "soul friend". I read a book called Anam Cara, A book of Celtic Wisdom, by John O'Donohue. This poem is a piece in the
book's chapter: "Work as a Poetics of Growth", and I find it just beautiful....

A Blessing

May the light of your soul guide you.
May the light of your soul bless the work you do with the secret love and warmth of your heart.
May you see in what you do the beauty of your own soul.
May the sacredness of your work bring healing, light, and renewal to those who work with you and to those who see and receive your work.
May your work never weary you.
May it release within you wellsprings of refreshment, inspiration, and excitement.
May you be present in what you do.
May you never become lost in the bland absences.
May the day never burden.
May dawn find you awake and alert, approaching your new day with dreams, possibilities, and promises.
May evening find you gracious and fulfilled.
May you go into the night blessed, sheltered, and protected.
May your soul calm, console, and renew you.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone!

Look at the layers of snow on that, very pretty. Some of the water is in its liquid form too!

Nár lagaí Dia do lámh is go raibh míle maith agat

Literal translation:

"It is not legal to leave your llama unattended while pickin' agates along this beach"

You know, I lost a llama that way once. Darn good llama too...dang it!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Monday, March 17, 2008 - 03:22 pm:

Good one Toivo; I guess that's why I had a ticket for parking my llama in a no camel zone!! But the actual translation goes something like:

May God not weaken your hand (more power to you) and may you have a thousand good things (many thanks) on this fine day.....
