1 week today back from the UP,trying to rest up after 10days of ,going to all the places we went to 50 years ago, what memories, and what agreat time..

By R.Wen (Rjwelpaso) on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 10:21 am:

Is this the Bill Niemala farm above $ Bay, where so many $ Bay kids picked strawberries and potatoes every year? Six cents a quart and fifty cents a row to hoe the strawberries which were planted for the next year. I can't remember how much we got for picking the potatoes in October.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 11:10 am:

No,it is not the Niemala Farm in $Bay. It is the Somero Farm in the Keweenaw Peninsula with their name on the mailbox. And I don't think it use to be Mr. Bill's Farm at one time, however I can say they do look alike.

Edward & Delores; That is a sweet way to remember the past 50 years together, your Profile picture sez it all.

Hi from weluvdaup,
My wife's dad's family lived in Mohawk early part of the
1910's.
We've been coming up to the UP since '04 and loving it.
We usually stay in the Bear Den in Copper Harbor.
We'll be up again next spring.
My wife Linda is part Finnish on her dad's side.
See Ya!

Message for Megan Gilge:

I received your request for a Pasty Gallery album and prepared it for you, but the email I sent to get you started came back to me, with the message that it was an invalid recipient. Perhaps you entered the wrong email address when you registered, so if you read this, email me with your correct email address at: mdrew@pasty.com. Thanks!

Well, Dave you missed it on that one. That certainly is the former Niemila Farm which has been owned by the Somero's for quite a few years now.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 02:09 pm:

Happy 50th Anniversary, Ed & Dee, & many, many more! What a great way to celebrate your big anniversary, with a trip down memory lane in the UP!

Somero! Any relation to the concrete leveling company in the above link?

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 11:23 pm:

RCW:I wanted to see if i'd get a bite on the (Old )Niemila Farm, which now has the Somero's name on the mailbox.I was not sure if it was at one time Bill's,I knew it looked like it after R.Wen put the thought in my head, but nowhere did i see (OLD).What happened to a Somero that yoosta post here often,i belive he was in Northern CA.? I miss many of the old-timers who remember the picture from 8 years ago,and that would be all they posted about, the U.P.Thank you RCW (cousin)for letting me know for sure.If you don't want to lay claim to being Kin,ask Mary to take it off here. It's not going to get you anywhere to know me,as it dose me knowing you.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 11:43 pm:
