You would have gotten wet on the beach at Eagle Harbor eight years ago.

Omens of an early fall ................

Maples trees are turning red, and the birch are dropping leaves; fall is in the air.

Last night, ever so deftly outside our open bedroom screen door, a bear took down our bird feeders, and in the process straightened out a one quarter inch aluminum hanging rod, formerly shaped like a Shepard's hook.

Also, tonight's the best viewing of this years' Perseids meteor shower - 2 AM EST. Up to 2 meteors per minute are predicted

Good morning! Help!!! I heard by the family grapevine yesterday that one of my nephews who is MSP trooper stationed at the Lanse or Baraga post, where ever it is, assisted in helping a father and son from Lake Superior some time in the past couple of weeks. Has anyone heard such a story recently. I really don't know any of the details. The troopers name is Kirt Ries.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Mr Bill, today I was reading your book and really am enjoying it. I have run across several things that Hal would have been able to supply the missing info on.

Having that strong bear out there messing around must have made for an interesting night!!!! They sure are strong.

It is a little cooler here today, the temp is 87 at 7 p.m.

A big thank you to all who e-mailed me and Judy who posted the place to find the article about my nephew, Michigan State Police trooper Kurt Ries, who helped the 8 year old girl and her father back into shore after the wind had taken her and her tube out into unsafe waters at KB! He told his parents, who live east of Mason, MI., that he was just doing his job! Thanks for doing a great job Kurt! Uncle Paul.
