headed UP too. My last day of school is Thursday, and we're not
wasting any time getting to the UP. It's only for the Canada Day
long weekend, but worth the drive!

I was on the wrong week last week. The good news is that gave me more time to prepare for our trip UP there. But, that means we still have to wait 6 more days before we leave for UP there! :-)

Are you all going to be there for Pasty Fest? I'm jealous! I've only been able to make the first one. We come UP once a month in the summer, and our next trip will be for the Aura Jamboree in July. If gas wasn't so expensive (and so are my food-spending habits when I'm UP), I'd make the extra trip. But we have to be in Aura to make our bean soup in the big kettle outdoors for the Jamboree.

I'm going to be at Pasty fest, but I don't know how to find anyone else! Last year was a huge crowd of people mainly in groups who knew each other.

Hello from West Jordan, Utah. Last week I was in the U.P. visiting Baraga where I lived and went to high school for many years. I had not been back for 18 years and I still miss it so much. Was sad to see the level of the lake so I sure hope you all get some rain (not hail) soon. We need it also as we are sitting at 100 degrees today, tomorrow, yesterday and it seems never ending! Living those years in the U.P. will always be my most treasured memories. By the way, the cinnamon rolls at the Hilltop are delicious. :)

Tomorrow is the Scandinavian Midsummer Fest at Presque Isle in Marquette. No charge to come in and free parking, too. Food, music, dancing, an ethnic fashion show. Celebrating Scandinavian stuff of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. All day from 10:00 am until they light the 'kokko' (bonfire) around 10:00 or 10:30 pm. I think there is a schedule in the paper. Kilpela and Friends, the Backwoods Boys, the Augustine Family from Aura, Les Ross Sr. and his harmonicas.
