Jeremy Rowe has an amazing collection of compelling scenes in the Pasty Cam Guest Gallery, including this firsthand look across the gliding bow of his kayak. The season at Isle Royale is underway once again, with early hikers ahead of the summer crowds. There certainly was no traffic in the water the day Jeremy grabbed this shot in a quiet river on its way to the big lake.

By the way, this coming Sunday on Shoebox Memories we will take a look at an incident in 1953 that occured over Lake Superior, which also happens to appear in the title track of a new CD by Jeremy Rowe, "Where the Truth Lies".

Very nice!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 07:45 am:

Hmmm, that wouldn't be the alledged F-89/UFO collision over Lake Superior that happened in 1953, would it??

Nice photo btw; it's rare to find water that still AND to capture it with a camera.

"There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
'Nuff said.

I love that picture, only 22 more days! losing a day because of another inventory though, I may not have the best attitude that day. Will be leaving to head north right from the office I think.

I love it. It looks so peaceful and you can almost hear the wilderness.

By Justin Johnson (Tinksno) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 09:33 am:

Capt. Paul next time your are in Escanaba we will head out to the Whitefish river where the water is still and the views are breathtaking.

Great photos Jeremy! Thanks for sharing

I am with Brooke on this one that the countdown timer is on for the four of July!

Great picture Jeremy.

I'm having a Calgon moment. "Take me away" to that beautiful place. That is really a place of tranquility. Thanks Jeremy for sharing it with us.

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 01:21 pm:

Notice how there are never any bugs in those nature pictures? I was on Manitou Island as part of a trip on the Denis Sullivan. You should hear the bugs in the woods there! Almost like I-696 at rush hour. Nature was calling me if you know what I mean, but I was afraid of getting run over.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 03:02 pm:

That sounds like an invite Justin?!?! Of course I couldn't leave my love behind, the Dr. would have to come along; are there any neat rocks in the area??

I think we're down to 49 days until we leave for the copper country. Unfortunitely, we can't be there for Pasty Fest or the 4th. One of these years we will make that Pasty Fest, hopefully only having to drive a few minutes to get there instead of 2 days.......

Counting the days? One left here at school.

Way to go Jeremy!! Known him his whole life. Great
kid and wonderful musician!

That's a great picture, Jeremy! I have always loved water pictures where the water is as smooth as glass, & you can see the reflections of the trees, etc, on the water! That must have been an awesome kayak trip.

By jeremy rowe (Rowejm51) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 - 06:08 pm:

Wow, just got around to getting online and my first thought was, "that kayak looks real familiar" I had taken that picture 2 summers ago in Duncan Bay on Isle Royale. Thanks to Charlie for the plug on my music too. If you want to hear a song I wrote that goes along with that picture, I have one on my new album called "In My Element" Track #12 if you click this www.cdbaby.com/jeremyrowe2 you can hear some of it. I wrote it about living up here. -jeremy

Great shot by Jeremy. His album, btw, is one of my favorites, and I think is outstanding. Use headphones and enjoy the experience.

To answer Capt. Paul's question YES the song "where the truth lies" is about the Kinross Incident that happened on November 23rd, 1953
