The Keweenaw Star was headed on her way somewhere on the canal earlier last week, but I just can't pinpoint where. Since this photo was snapped by Chris Koskiniemi though, the buds on the trees have really burst out and are greening everything up nicely. There are so many signs of the summer season to come, sprouting out all over... from flowers to boats along the canal, and the Keweenaw Star is certainly one of them. If you haven't already done so, then a dinner cruise on board this vessel is something to put on your "must do" list. It's a great way to spend an afternoon or evening in the Copper Country.

By the way, the young lady in the middle on the deck of the Keweenaw Star is Dr. Katriina Hopper, who celebrated over the weekend at Michigan State University, the successful completion of the U.P. Rural Physician Program. Katriina and Jonathan (right) will be splitting their time between Eagle River and Hamden, Connecticut, where her residency at Yale University begins next month. Katriina is also an alumnus of the Pasty Central staff, serving an important role in our administration a few years back, and currently as a member of our board of directors.

The deck photo is from their wedding rehearsal party back in 2002. Of course, Jonathan is the guy who started this website (along with yours truly) 11 years ago this month.

Congratulations too you Charlie and your Son for a very good Site and A Job Well Done for the last eleven years. Have always enjoyed the Pictures and the Chatter in both areas. Lots of success for the years to come and keep up the good work. Kudo's also to Mary for the good job that she does.

Thanks for the link to the Rural Physicians program. I'm glad that
this much needed specialty exists. Good luck, Katriina and
Jonathan!

That sounds like fun.

What are the junior Hoppers' long-range plans, once she completes her residency?

Looks like fun, I should try that some time.

My wife and I have done the Keweenaw Star dinner
cruise. It was a lot of fun and the dinner was good too.
We would like to go again when the colors are peaked.
I highly recommend the voyage.
