What a yo-yo our weather has been this December! Just about the time we get a good snow cover, August returns and melts it all away. One day this week the pasty shipments out of Calumet were delayed - - not because of snow - - but on account of fog! As these snowy shots from Roger Kangas suggest, it's cooled off again this morning:

Speaking of pasty shipments, it looks like the holiday delivery schedule is just about all filled up. If you were intending to have a pasty feast on Christmas eve, better get your order in today!

By Cindy, St. Clair Shores, MI on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 08:31 am:

I guess winter has officially arrived. I really enjoyed your gallery, Roger. I've been up since 5:00 a.m. decorating my Christmas tree, and it was a very nice break to view your wonderful pictures. Thanks!

By Leslie at the Northern Lights Lodge - Cadillac on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 08:35 am:

Ha ha ha! Motor - icicle!
It is freshly white this morning here in Cadillac.

By ed/mi on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 08:52 am:

Good morning to all this fine December day. We are getting our first touch of snow today, between Detroit and Toledo. Temps are in the low 30's and we get to see g.son play hockey in Trenton today at one of the 10 indoor rinks in our area.

By Jean, West Texas on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 09:37 am:

It is 37 here in West Texas but no snow...high predicted to be 72 and sunshine. Our Wylie Bulldogs won the state championship for football last night over in Waco. This time next year this displaced yooper will be reporting from the east coast of Virginia-trees at last and water:)

time to put the toys away till spring

By flyintoday on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 10:08 am:

Had a Honda Super Hawk when I lived in Chassell during the winter 68. Didn't get to ride much, but springtime was a lot of fun with daily commute to da Tech. Also did it by boat more than once. Young and dumber.

By Lori... commerce twp on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 10:31 am:

Put away the toys till spring? Only the summer toys... Now we get to play with the snow toys!!! :)

By Margaret, Amarillo TX on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 10:50 am:

Yo, Colleen from Nocona: Goin' to be 70s here today--no snow. Going to be snow mext Friday---talk about yo-yo weather!

By John from the prairie on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 11:03 am:

I know people who ride in that weather.

C'mon, snow! Johnny wants to hit Big Powderhorn Mountain/
Indianhead between Christmas and New Year's!

By Herb_NW_Wis on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 11:18 am:

Bike in snow looks like a Honda 350 of 1970s vintage. I'll
bet the motor is "froze" too.

Only a little snow here in NW Wis. But freezing RAIN is
coming they claim today and there was mist earlier.

Great pictures... Here's the present temperature for good ol' Georgia... 43 Degrees... Clear... AND YOU YOOPERS... What is this "snow" you keep speaking of? (LOL).

By Dave, Laurium on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 05:54 pm:

Hey Alex T., Have you had a pasty for breakfast lately?? Can't think of a much better way to start the day...... Especially with the weather we have coming the next couple of days. There's always something about the first big storm of the winter, I always like to get out in it no matter how bad it gets, kind of a challenge I guess. Hope the weather in Ga stays good for you....

By danbury on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 06:49 pm:

Been riding today, but then, no snow in the Rhine river valley. Chilly enough, though. Strange weather over here, too - two weeks of fog!

By JOE , TAMPA on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 07:55 pm:

Do other peolple get a hit (claiming to be) from Pasty Cam requesting Credit Card Info ? My Question why do they at Pasty Cam want personal info on my creditr card? Any answers?

Editor's note: Not sure what you're referring to as a 'hit', but I can assure you it has nothing to do with Pasty Cam. The only time you'd be requested to give credit card info, would be if you were ordering something such as
Pasties, Calendars or Internet service. When in doubt, don't give info out!

By Anne on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 09:20 pm:

I am not sure what you mean by a "hit". If you are suspicious...do not give out your info!!!

By Anne on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 09:23 pm:

Dave, I just checked the NWS too and it looks like winter is going to arrive all in one day. Mostly the kids are hoping for a "Snow Day" on Monday. I was walking on my green, green lawn this afternoon! May it all melt on New Years !

By Fred troll, MI on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 10:49 pm:

Last Wed. someone mentioned something about the old Calumet dump. Can anyone tell me where the old dump was? Was it near the town somewhere along the Water works road?

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP on Saturday, December 11, 2004 - 10:59 pm:

It was to the right off Pine St. towards the Tamarack Waterworks. Not very far, maybe 1/4 mile.

By Tampa on Sunday, December 12, 2004 - 08:19 am:

Norton Firewall blocks (the bogus spoof on my computer) from acquiring credit card information. That's what I mean "HIT". Not sure why this is happening, however, it is though the Pastycam is seeking information. Just wanted to advise. Thanks for your assistance.

Joe, the intrusion on your computer has nothing to do with this website. It is a parasitic program originating elsewhere, which just happens to be triggering itself on your computer when you browse to pages like ours. Try using Spybot or Adaware to permanently block such intrusions.
