First PostGood Morning from Florida, cool here today in the 60s.

Good morning!

Good morning from ann arbor

By ljb on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 07:23 am:

Just wondering if you guys could put the "Ancestor" link on the "What'sUP" page, or somewhere where people will see it daily. If you didn't see it on Monday, you missed it and have to go back to Monday to find it. I'm sure that there would be more discussion about our ancestors. I, for one, would love that!

Done!

Mornin'

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 08:10 am:

There was a serious accident not too far from our house Sunday. Just found out last night that the one person who did not survive was Anne Bach from Eagle Harbor. The article said she was the owner of the Eagle Harbor Store and an antique dealer. Does that mean the general store in Eagle Harbor? The Flint Journal reporter happened to be her great-nephew, I think his name is Matt Bach. I'm sure many of you knew her.

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 08:33 am:

Regarding Anne Bach,

Oh, lord, NO! If she is the owner of the Eagle Harbor Store, that will be a great grief. Such a great place to go when we are there for vacation. She was a gracious lady.

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 08:36 am:

Thanks, Marsha, for posting the information about Anne Bach. Some of us would not have known otherwise.

Mornin'....

By Matt from Fulton in GB on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 09:18 am:

regarding Anne Bach, check the Daily Mining Gazette's obits on-line

By Dave & JoAnne Stefanac Washington state on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 10:21 am:

Hi all,

Anne was my husband's aunt. She and her husband were ONE TIME owners of the store and an antique shop (not current owners). That article was a little deceptive, the way it was written. It was many years ago that they owned those businesses. However, she was still living in Eagle Harbor.

We were so shocked and saddened when we heard of this death. She is the last of Dave's aunts and uncles so he is really feeling the loss. She was such a wonderful, vibrant, happy woman and we will miss her terribly. It will be a hard drive by her house in the Harbor the next time we're up there for a visit.

We'll miss you, Auntie Anne...

By OldMEchurchboy on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 10:40 am:

According to George Hite's web site, Clarence and Anne Bach operated the Eagle Harbor Store from 1970 - 1987.

By Amy, WhiteLake-Agate Harbor on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 11:24 am:

Regarding Anne Bach-she also was a volunteer at Still Waters with the gardening group. She will be missed by many.

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 11:44 am:

Dave and Joanne: thank you so much for the added information. Condolences on your loss. I remember her too, and she was a lovely lady.

By Sarah, Little Betsy on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 12:21 pm:

Okay Little Betsy Gang- You guys get us all riled up with your deer camp comments before deer camp and we hardly hear a hello out of you while you are up there! Uncle Chuck, I expected a daily journal! What happened, did Ben's cannon accidentally go off and wipe out the Little Betsy shore? I hope your trip is/was adventurous as usual!

I remember when a sailor fell off a freighter and swam ashore to the Bachs home in Eagle Harbor..

It seems not as many people are here. Where is everyone who usually posts?

Out looking for that elusive 10 pointer!

By Genie on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 03:03 pm:

Alex, I totally agree.

By kc, MN on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 03:10 pm:

I received my calendars today; they turned out really nice! I ordered one for myself, my brother, who moved to AZ from MI and my oldest sister who lives in GA.

Thanks for your order! You too can order your own copy of the new
2005 Pasty Cam Memorial Calendar. They make great Christmas gifts!

By Ms. Katie on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 07:30 pm:

Since there's not much in the way of correspondence today Im always willing to talk !(just ask my spouse :) Visited a recently widowed sister-in-law today. She's the one who got us started going to Texas for the winter. Wish she would come down again but she won't go alone. It's been a lovely warm day, mid 60's, but overcast. Must get out and pack up the R.V. for our trip next week. It's like moving twice a year. Much to remember to take for various art projects I get involved with down There. We go to Rockport, a wonderfully artsy town near Corpus Christi. Now if I could convince him to spend the summer months in the UP I'd be in 7th heaven. Looking forward to receiving my 2005 calender. Good evening everyone.

10 pointer? TEN POINTER?

Whoa!

By Ronald Oregon on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 10:13 pm:

I looked at the link for calendars and it states "sold out".

Is that actually the case or is that a temporary situation?

The "Sold Out" you were reading, means that PASTIES for that date are sold out. You can still order
Calendars or several other gift items, plus you can order Pasties for the highlighted shipping dates not marked "Sold Out"! Start a new tradition, and have a U.P. Pasty for Thanksgiving dinner! :->

Ch 6 (Marquette) showed a pic of a man and the deer he shot, from Minnesota, with 27 points. A 27 pointer!! The antlers were so big, his hand wouldn't fit around the main beam. Not quite the t'irty pointer, but close, 'eh? It weighed 192 lbs. Holy Wah!!
