Mary Drew at Pasty Central on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 06:51 am:

First glance at the top shot from the U.P. by Brita Haapala, you may miss the subtle contrast. But if you look again, catch the starkness of the bare branches of the tree, contrasting to the shining streaks of sunlight cutting across the sky behind, adding beauty to the bleak. On this Thanksgiving, let us reflect on the blessings which shine into our everyday lives. Barb Nelson sent along the old-time postcard wishing everyone Hearty Thanksgiving Greetings!

Am I the only one surprised to see about 2 inches of snow on the ground this morning? It sure brightens things up, don't it? Happy Turkey Day all!!!

By James in SW Wisc. on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 08:09 am:

On this Thanksgiving Day I have much to be thankful for: My 17mo. old son, Kurt, by way of my wife, Ginny. Both came to me "late" in life.

I can't imagine my life without them..

I hope each of you has the opportunity to practice your faith on this day of family and friends.

It's too bad the Packers are not playing the Lions...

Happy Thanksgiving to all, enjoy your day. And we are blessed with a White Thanksgiving! We were hoping for snow, haven't had a white Thanksgiving for 39 years. YES! As I sit here eating povatica from Tony's in Laurium watching huge snowflakes drifting down, with the tree braches dusted in white, I bid everyone a Happy and safe Holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving--loved the card. Bless everyone from here in TX. Goin' out to the Big Texan for dinner today.

By Tim, Saint Clair Shores, MI on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 10:12 am:

Happy Thanksgiving from St. Clair Shores! Last Thanksgiving, I spent the day in a cabin in the Keweenah overlooking Lake Superior. That was nice, but we all got violent food poisoning due to poor dishwashing and cooking techniques. Let's just say we were more thankful before the feast than after.

This year, I will have more family contact and a better awareness of salmonella, but the view is drab down here in congestion-land. The ultimate would be to magically beam the extended family to the Copper Country to experience Thanksgiving in God's Country together.

By The Adas family / Andover, Minnesota on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 10:32 am:

Thanksgiving greetings from snowless Minnesota.

First U.P. sled ride in 2 weeks, can't wait!

I see by the bridge cam, that HOT Thanksgiving day meal will be welcome... A bit snowy up there, eh? I wonder if anyone ever tried stuffing the big bird with a couple of pastys? Ooooo... That smells good in my mind... Bet it would taste even better!

God Bless all of you!

By Margie in Florida on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 11:18 am:

Greetings from Florida and happy holidays. I'm a long time in getting a one this year...and recently found your site. Don't miss a day checking out the pictures. Today's picture of the snow and lift bridge is so beautiful. I lived in Caro, near Saginaw and Flint, as a child. Grandparents lived there. Today I wanted to say Hi and thanks for the wonderful pictures.

By ed/mi on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 11:20 am:

And a Happy Thanksgiving to all from southern Wayne County. Family coming to feast with us on Turkey and no snow on the ground.
Yesterdays comment on "Gramma Bea" reminds me of some of my good days there with Betty, Wilma, Armand and the other kids of that wonderful family.

six to over 8 inches of snow in our area. Thousands of homes without power today. Some will not have power restored until tomorrow night. It is beautiful, but making life difficult for many. God's blessings to all!

By ShawnR, GR MI on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 03:11 pm:

It is a gorgeous Thanksgiving day today here in GR. We got 11" of snow and it is beautiful! Hey, do you think Hallmark still sells Thanksgiving cards with an ax on them? Probably wouldn't go over real big these days, but kind of interesting to see anyhow. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

By Audrey, San Jose, CA on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 03:25 pm:

Happy Thanksgiving from a cold and cloudy day in San Jose! May everyone have a day full of good food, good friends, good family, and peace.

By Candy, CA on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 04:35 pm:

I second Audrey of San Jose's sentiments -- chilly and wet here in the Sacramento area as well, but nothing could dampen our spirits of gratitude for the past year and hope for the year to come.

Pasty Central has become an important part of our lives, keeping us connected to a place we love but can't be right now. Thank you, Charlie, Mary, Toivo, Donn, Dan, Z-Man and all the other contributors!

Happy turkey day to all, and enjoy your after dinner naps! (Kids, make sure you help your moms in the kitchen!)

By Fran,Ga on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 04:57 pm:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on Pasty Cam! No
snow but it is sunny and 45 degrees here in N Ga.
The heat from the oven feels good. I fix a traditional dinner like my Mom always made. Sure is smelling good in here!!! We offer thanks for all of our blessings and also for our service men and women who are serving our country.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 08:12 pm:

Bridge is down!

By Therese from just below the bridge on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 09:27 pm:

I am thankful for many things, too many to mention, but right now I am thankful that as the turkey was being carved all the other dishes were finished and everything was served hot. A true Thanksgiving Day miracle!

Oh, and thanks, Lord, for the three inches of snow that fell while we ate by candle light, and the full moon 'on the breast of the new-fallen snow' giving 'the luster of mid-day to objects below'.

By pj,mi on Thursday, November 25, 2004 - 10:06 pm:

Donna: Thanks for the link for the Michigan web cams.

By Becky on Friday, November 26, 2004 - 01:40 am:

By Z-Man on Friday, November 26, 2004 - 09:31 am:

"While watching CNN yesterday morning and seeing a Serviceman performing his duties in Iraq, he spoke of listening to "Alice's restaurant" on this 25th of November as a day to be thankful. I am and will always be. The subject of the day was Turkey Day. The words of this song fits this day for our boys (and girls) in Iraq:
Alice's restaurant

By Donna on Friday, November 26, 2004 - 04:36 pm:

'Tis my pleasure, p.j.!

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Sunday, September 20, 2009 - 09:07 pm:
