Eight years ago, the Patsy Cam was present at Kathryn Sullivan's 100th birthday. Here she is peeling potatoes for some Pasty Central pasties. She received birthday greetings from all over the country.

It looks like winter will arrive later today, as temperatures drop and the snow flurry graphic dominates the National Weather Service forecast page for the rest of the week.

There is still time to order your holiday pasties from Pasty Central, as well as your 2007 Pasty Cam calendar. Check out the details.

First PostMorning! Happy Birthday Laurie!

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 08:11 am:

A busy person is a happy person. I think the secret to living a long life is to stay active. She sure looked good for 100 years old. It's probably also due to living in the UP!

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 08:11 am:

Good morning from the thumb. I hope we have the kind of weather here today that we had yesterday. It was 64° and sunny. We are supposed to get snow this weekend. But that's ok, I like snow too.

Gramma Laurie, Happy Birthday and hope you can get outdoors in all that Seattle weather!

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 10:30 am:

I honestly believe, like Joanie, that living in the UP is healthier. My parents returned to Calumet when my Dad retired. My sister had been "always sick" in Detroit. Other than one long-term medical emergency, she has been very healthy living with them and then in a group home in Hancock.

I know that I always feel excellent UP there, when visiting in any of the four seasons. I have more energy, sleep better, and allergy symptoms are gone!

Speaking of the weather; I started hearing, meow, meow, meow, and arf, arf, arf. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from till I looked outside. It was "raining cats and dogs"!

Joanie you are too funny-LOL

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 01:54 pm:

Happy Birthday Laurie :) Bet your bestest birthday gift was the birth of your grandson, eh ;)

And speaking of it raining cats and dogs Joanie, I have to get motivated and head to Mokena before that downpour hits in Ill Annoy ;)

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 03:13 pm:

Too late, Sur5er, it's raining lions and Bernese mountain dogs.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - 06:31 pm:

Joanie, Talk about a downpour in Ill Annoy...even in 4WD, I was treading water.
'Hydroplane...hydroplane...hydro all the way'. Sorry, I couldn't resist ;)

By Danbury (Danbury) on Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 03:13 am:

Just be careful, sur5er - we don't want you posting from the hospital, right?

Hydroplaning is not about 4wd, but rather, speed, water depth, and tires (tread and pressure).
Happy sailing! :)
