The Lake Linden streets have taken on a different look lately as you can see in this top picture. Some bump-outs, with trees planted, have been added along the sidewalks. The crosswalks have been bricked also, but don't show up in the shot very well. What DOES show up well though, is the temperature on the Credit Union sign over on the left of the photo. Check it out -- 51º -- and these pictures were taken Thanksgiving Day! The other two shots are of the construction that's been going on in the park. Quite a nice improvement with the concrete and rocks set to form a new town square. There's still some work to be done, but it's looking good so far. It'll be a nice addition for the 4th of July festivities!

So THAT'S what they were doing this summer when we were there and the streets were torn up. I like it! Can't wait to see it...and the park too. And the 51° temp looks pretty nice too. People were shopping in shirt sleeves yesterday here in Minnesota. Ya gotta love it!!

(Mary, thanks for teaching me how to make the degree sign. IT WORKED!)

Now that is my kind of downtown. No traffic, no muss, no fuss!

Richard, as an avid sky watcher, I'm stunned by your album especially the morning lights. Isn't it amazing how we take these fabulous daily treats for granted? Thank you for catching them for us!

By Ms. Katie (Mskatie) on Saturday, November 25, 2006 - 04:27 pm:

Looks like our small town maybe a little larger than us. Our "bigger" business town nearby,15,000, Sterling, Il., has been improving the looks of the downtown and is really looking so homey. I really like it!

By Charles Pomazal (Cpomazal) on Saturday, November 25, 2006 - 04:33 pm:

Sure! 51 degrees for Thanksgiving Day. We were there on October 12th and there was a foot of snow, zero visibility, and road construction drums everywhere. If you don't like the weather in the Copper Country, wait a few days.

Joanie, This is where I grew up. A nicer small town you'll never find anywhere. I love Lake Linden.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, November 25, 2006 - 04:51 pm:

The smaller the town, the nicer the people! We are not "city slickers"! Our idea of a good time is to sit on the front porch and watch nature at its best! Lake Linden looks "comfy, cozy!"

The UP mystery continues with the Kinross Incident. Anyone out there have first hand knowledge of this?? There was an article in the Mining Journal from Marquette this morning and a little digging found this too. http://earthfiles.com/news/news.cfm?ID=1147&category=Environment

Interested to know if anyone from back in 1953 heard about it then??
