Good morning....
Its 6* here. So looking forward to Spring!!! Love the snow pics but really like the wildflowers!!! Everyone have a GOOD week!

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 07:53 am:

morning. It's 40 and spring has sprung in some areas. Saw a few crocus blooming Saturday.

By Sunrise Side MI (Ilovelucy2) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 09:24 am:

I am heading for Sacramento Ca. in April. The roses are beautiful there and I can enjoy two Springs! It sure helps to chase away the winter blues. Plus see our two beautiful grandsons, son and wife. DJ. was in Iraq so I will be happy to see him.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 10:32 am:

Good morning everyone :)
ILoveLucy2, Have a wonderful time visiting your family. I am so happy that DJ made it home safe and sound from Iraq :)
Beverly: Thanks so much for the funny emails you have been sending me. They're wonderful breaks in the wee hours of the night, from all this paperwork. Almost in the final stretch ;) Hope you are feeling better.

IloveLucy2, I hope you have a grand time in Sacramento with your family. It will be a trip very well deserved for one and for all!! God Bless you all.

Here in Metropolitan Detroit there aren't many skunks, but with a good volume of traffic we wind up with lots of "road pizzas" and especially "squirrel pizzas".

We have a great time and you'll see over 400 Yoopers. There are grills there.Polka to the music of Jim and Teri (Enrietti).

By scott perkins (Scotty) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 04:38 pm:

Wish I could make that yooper picnic but will be starting to make our way up the east coast of florida by then on our way back to the UP via New York, through the erie canal and then through the great lakes back to houghton. You can tell it is spring here as all the snow birds are starting to head north. It is in the low 70's here in the keys with a little wind to keep our batteries charged up and to let me surf the net.

Not too much on Pasty.Com about the marvelous win of the
Swedes over the Finns in the Gold Medal Olympics hockey game.
I suppose all those Finns in the Copper Country are not too
happy, but for all the Swedish- Americans in the Gladstone area
and elsewhere, such a nice game! Also, if you are a Red Wings
fan you had to notice that all 3 goals scored by the Swedes were
shot by Red Wings. I suspect the Red Wings will be tired for
Tuesday's game against San Jose after all their Swedes did on
their national team, but what a high for those guys. Maybe it
will energize them for the last part of the regular season.

speaking of road pizzas: What's a UP 7 course dinner?

road kill and a six pack.

(SORRY!) I couldn't help myself.

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 07:11 pm:

Scotty, sorry you are leaving our section of Florida....but it does turn a little warm as May approaches. Not to mention that June is the start of the hurricane season! My husband and I are wondering how long it will take you to reach Houghton via your proposed route? Do you have a sailboat or a powerboat? Hope your trip home is a safe and enjoyable journey.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 07:49 pm:

Charles, I mentioned the Swede team in a post on the day of the game and how they had so many Red Wings on their team. How 'bout those Wings? I was happy that the Swedes won. I was surprised that there weren't many posts about it too. Mostly they were about the Finns losing. Go Swedes!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 07:51 pm:

Nice picture of the Hungarian Falls. My brother used to live up there (not literally). It's a nice place. It's really hard to find now though. Not like when we were kids. Of course, we've usually tried in August when nothing is running up there because there's been a 2 month drought. We'll try Memorial weekend this year.

By dlp (Babyseal) on Monday, February 27, 2006 - 09:31 pm:

Ozzie, I read your post and got all excited about a winter Yooper Picnic at Twin Lakes Park and then I realized it was in Florida, not the Twin Lakes Park here in Houghton County. Hmmm....They camp in winter, maybe we can picnic in the winter. Pasties from Krupps anyone???

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 02:38 am:

Thank you Renee for your compassion. As soon as I get well enough I will then be able to go thru with the rest of the tests. My nerves are really jumping as to what the outcome of all this will be. I'm glad you like the jokes...sometimes they are just to good to keep to myself. :)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 06:44 am:

Charles in Adrian and Deb S--

Don't forget there's a Swede here in Toronto
too. Sundin is captain of the Maple Leafs.
Actually, I cheer for both the Red Wings and
the Maple Leafs.

The Swedish women played really good
hockey too!

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 - 10:54 am:

Beverly, You are too kind ;) Hoping and praying that everything goes great with your tests and that you are on the mend soon. Wish we all lived closer, so I could be there for you more.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 - 06:39 am:

Best wishes to you, Beverly. You're a real gem
Sur5er.

By WishingIWasInDaUP (Sur5er) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 - 10:14 am:

Kosk, What a wonderful thing to say...thank you. Wouldn't it be great if we could all coordinate one of our trips to the UP, and meet with everyone?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 - 10:31 pm:

Yes, it would.
