The storm in yesterday’s photos also passed through other areas of the U.P., including Gladstone. Michelle Lutke, Brett Biggers and Sisu were on there way to the Barn on the Bay Ice Cream Parlor (in the top photo) when they captured some cool clouds after the heavy storm had passed through. The sky looks like a blanket of bubbles, which are actually Mammatus Clouds, pouch-like or bubble-shaped cloud formations that hang downward from a larger parent cloud and are common after a massive thunderstorm. Pretty interesting to see them overhead, but all those clouds didn’t stop them from getting their ice cream fix at the ice cream shop. Check out that “boat” of ice cream Michelle and Brett shared and don’t worry, Sisu had her own cup of ice cream. A great way to cool down on a hot summer day.

While you’re drooling over all that ice cream, Michelle brings us some daisies and a look at Gabbro Falls, also known as Baker’s Falls, located between Bessmer and Wakefield on the Black River. If you’ve never been there (like me), the falls are near the Blackjack Ski Resort and is a 40-foot waterfall with three distinct drops and rugged unfenced rock ledges. Michelle captured the falls in all their rushing beauty, perfectly!

Our family dog loved ice cream. Because she would gulp
a chunk without chewing, that was how we gave her her
heartworm pill.

Barn on the bay is making me crave ice cream. The
cloud pictures are fantastic. Our world is one big
painting. Just beautiful. Lucky dog.

Gabbro Falls with the Daisies is picture perfect!
Wonder how difficult it is to get to these falls?
Think there are numerous falls along the Black
River, but unsure how accessible they are for us
older hikers lol!
