Today’s photos from Kevin Dunham were snapped last week when a storm blew across Munising Bay in the middle of the afternoon. The photos are taken looking out towards Grand Island and the West Channel. Those clouds look pretty angry if you ask me. Darkness underneath with what looks like white, somewhat fluffy clouds topping them off. Kind of reminds me of whipped cream on an ice cream sundae, only not as pleasant and probably carrying some lightning and rain along with them. Kevin said he had gone out earlier when the first storm came through, hoping to capture some lightning bolts, but didn’t have any luck with that, so he headed out later for today’s shots when a second round of the storm came through... still no lightning strikes captured, but a big WOW on the clouds rolling in.

Kevin also recorded a video of the storm. Turn your volume up if you want to hear the waves rolling in, along with the wind. It’s neat to see the photos brought to life like that in his video.

WOW!! Outstanding photos and video, no
lightning bolts necessary. Storm clouds can
be so beautiful.

There’s just something special about how rapidly
storms form and evolve over the Great Lakes.
Witnessed similar weather several times and it’s
always fascinating - sometimes scary! And we all
know how the Lakes create their own weather,
most notably Lake Effect Snow **:)

Hi
I always enjoy seeing weather moving across the Lake.
My cabin is sometimes in an odd spot rain-wise;
sometimes a storm will be inland and not on me, and
more often it wll move through the UP across Lake Huron
from me.

I also love the open horizon, and the ship traffic we
get in the Straits area.

Holy smokes! Oh Kevin, I knew these were your
pictures! They are so very good. I love the
Darkness Over Grand Island. Storm pictures are so
awesome!! My hubby loves to stand outside watching.
That's OK here, except for lightning of course. But
when we lived in Minnesota I'd get so mad at him
because they could get bad. Anyway, great shots!!
