We welcome a new photographer to the Pasty Cam today, Sara Lynn Macy, from Mackinac Island, with some incredible photos of an Otter floating on an iceberg in Lake Huron. She said during the day, she looked out the window and saw it out there floating around British Landing and had to snap a few photos. Then she couldn’t believe it when it came back that night to enjoy the setting sun and what Sara called a golden hour session with the Mackinac Bridge in the background. It actually looks like he knew his picture was being taken and was posing for her. Not something you see every day, cruising around Mackinac Island. You can check out more of Sara’s photography on her webpage here: It’s Wonderful Photography

Yooper Steve over at Tour Da Yoop has some interesting info for us about the only spot on the North Country Trail that you actually hike right through a building. The lead-in gives us some background and says: “This is the only spot on the North Country Trail where you hike through a building for 4800 miles. This is near Rockland, MI. If you go west from the Old Victoria Homestead you’ll arrive to the mine ruins. This is one of the hoist houses of the Victoria mine. Keep hiking on the North Country Trail west for great views with many scenic overlook views.”

Hi
Because the snow at the bottom looks like a cloud, it
looks a little like the otter is sailing through the
sky in the first photo. All the photos are good, and I
enjoy seeing shots of the Mackinac Bridge and the
Straits area.

Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous. What a
lucky lil guy...cruising the lake and enjoying a
gorgeous sunset. Just stunning!

Awesome video. Has anyone reading this done the
entire North Country Trail?? I bet there are some
incredible views!!

Hi again
I found a site for the North Country Trail, with the
following:
Find a unique adventure each day on Michigan’s
stretch of North Country Trail, where you can
experience a pleasant blend of both urban and rural
areas. Trek along the shoreline of colossal Lake
Superior. Make your way across quaint farmlands and
crunch down tree-lined country roads. Have lunch in a
quiet Trail Town, and wander through county parks and
state forests. Backpack into remote wilderness. Hike
up rolling hills to take in a vista or soak up a
sunset, then tramp back down into glacial valleys.
Join the crowd during the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk
on Labor Day: the only day you can cross the bridge
on foot and officially log that five miles of North
Country Trail.

The trail traverses a variety of notable land units
and features in Michigan, including the Porcupine
Mountains; Ottawa, Hiawatha, and Manistee National
Forests; Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore; Craig
Lake, Tahquamenon Falls, and Straits State Parks;
Lake Superior State Forest; the Mackinac Bridge; the
Jordan River Valley; and Yankee Springs and Fort
Custer Recreation Areas.
