We have some neat contrast photos from a little more than a month ago on January 13, 2026, to last week at Canyon Falls, just south of L’Anse. Michelle Lutke and Brett Biggers were there in January when the falls were almost frozen over and on their adventure there last week they found the falls missing... covered over with marshmallow-like snow. Michelle said she never gets tired of the hike to Canyon Falls, as it’s always different and always beautiful. They had to strap on snowshoes for this hike, as there was at least 4 – 6 inches of fresh snow on the usual packed trail, so they did their part and packed the trail back down again. It was one of the most beautiful and peaceful hikes they’ve taken all winter and they’ve done more than a few. It seems they are just addicted to winter UP here! Check out more of their photos and adventures here: Wandering Michigan
The video shows everything completely covered in snow, also. Make sure your volume is turned up, you’ll be able to hear the water flowing under all that snow, even though you can’t see any sign of the falls or the river.

Hi Beautiful winter scenery, though I have to confess that I'm happy we have more spring-like conditions downstate.

I love that second picture. The sky is gorgeous. The rest of the pictures are pretty too, but I really love the second one.
