This past week the U.P. was treated to some wintry Auroras lighting up the skies. The first two shots are shared by Fred Koski over at Fred Koski Photography in the Three Lakes area. Such beautiful hues he captured in the early morning hours. That’s quite the bright beam in that first photo. Simply outstanding!

The next three photos come to us from my beautiful niece, Sarah Pini Wilhelm. She captured these over the starry skies in Gay. She was quite excited, telling folks to get outside and look up as the Northern Lights are amazing! It was a balmy 8° in the early morning hours and Sarah said her fingers were about to fall off, but it was well worth it to get these photos, as they were dancing and pulsing like crazy across the sky. Stunning!

We go back to Three Lakes with Fred Koski for today’s video, where he’s vaporizing hot water at 10° below zero! It’s a fun experiment for sure and neat to record it like this. Maybe Fred has a new profession in the works, a budding scientist/photographer.

Beautiful! I don't care how many times you see them, it's always so exciting. We had clouds here in Lake Linden, so I'm surprised you could see them in Gay. Nice capture!

Hi
In the second photo, it looks like visitors from the heavens are about to descend on the barn. Beautiful shots all.

Blizzards killed the lights here....but across the pond on You Tube...holy wha! BEAUTIFUL...

Depending on the gas in the atmosphere, will turn the color of the Aurora.

There are also different types of Aurora.

And Fred Koski...I always wanted to do that! Blow some bubbles and watch them freeze...add food coloring to something...play, play, play!

I've heard the Northern Lights, so help me. It was
like radio static. This was in the Thumb. I
stepped outside to walk my dogs late one night,
decades ago, but it's true.

Every pic of the northern lights just seems amazing and they’re all beautiful to me! I’ve been catching up on this week’s post pictures and videos. They’re all terrific as usual. Nice job by Mary and the contributors.

Quick update I’ve been in the university of Michigan hospital since Friday of last week being stabilized the best as possible throughout my body water, weight organs, etc. getting prepared for my third open-heart surgery, which will be looks like a mitral valve replacement and one bypass at this point, according to my heart catheterization session today. The tests are going well not finding anything unusual or alarming at this point and I’m excited to get this surgery over with. I’m hoping they don’t send me home and then ask me to come back at a later surgical date. I’d like to knock it all out now and be in the UP this summer with y’all. 👍🏻
