I love this time of year, when the ground starts waking UP and the spring flowers push their way up through the soil to color the Keweenaw beautiful. In some cases those flowers are pushing up while the snow is melting around them and in other cases they grow right through leaves that are still covering the ground. It is definitely a “sight for sore eyes” after a long winter season. Thank you to Liz Siivola for taking the time to "smell the flowers" and more importantly for sharing them with all of us to brighten UP our Spring!
We take a look at some of the many wildflowers that grow here in the Keweenaw and the U.P., with Douglas Feltman. Plenty of color we get to enjoy right now and in the months to come.

All those beautiful flowers and color! If anyone knows the names of these flowers, please let all of us know! I would love to have them in my garden! What a delight to see them this morning!

Jean Simmet (Calumet/ahmeek) I guess i forgot to put the names in my notes, but I did have them on the title of the photos. The top two photos are Glory-of-the-Snow. The bottom two photos are crocuses. Hope that helps!

The vid looks like daisies, asters (?), yarrow, lupines (they come in many colors), Indian paintbrush, buttercups, (I don't know), (lots of these are considered "weeds"), thistles (considered an invasive species), fire flower, purple loosestrife (also invasive), it looks like he hit a lot of wild places, and filmed there. It's stunning!

Hi Those are pretty flowers in the photos. I haven't seen crocuses spread out like that.
I'd have prefered the video to name the wildflowers as they appeared, or at least have a caption. It did have nice close-ups of the flowers.

I didn't think to look...I could have copied and pasted the list as well...but I didn't do too bad on figuring out what most were~

Donna, I wasn't sure you saw the time stamped list. You did better than I could.
My favorites are the Lupines. I've never seen yellow ones. Who's guarding who?

I love lupines and there are a ton of colors..they also make nice beds for bugs! When we were little kids, we picked a big bouquet for Gram...she brought them in and put them in a big vase...later that night...the house was filled with moths! Gram knew...but she did anything for us kids!
