Funny how one shoreline (yesterday) can be without any ice lingering on the shoreline, while another still has a bit of ice hanging on to the shoreline edges, along with some good size icy creatures, with icicle teeth. Beth Jukuri captured these scenes on the shores of McLain State Park on a beautiful evening last week. It’s still cold enough to need a jacket and some days even a hat or hood, but Spring is doing its best to warm things UP for us here in the Keweenaw. We may still have a snow storm here and there, but with each one, we cross our fingers that it’s the last one for now. April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, so April snow, just needs to go. It’s time to start thinking picnics at McLain Park and maybe a dip in Lake Superior, too!
Speaking of a dip in Lake Superior... we have a video from Heather and Brian Outdoors watching a catastrophe with their drone, as it sinks to the bottom of Lake Superior in Marquette. Make sure you watch until the end to see who makes an appearance.

I saw these pictures on fb. They're so beautiful. But I hope that the next time Beth goes to McLain, the ice is all gone

Didn't Jeff's son lose a drone in the lake one time too? That's gotta bite.
I found an Aurora cam in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, and they were busy last night. I checked the cam at Sunset, nothing, the ones at Isle Royale, and that was fog...the one way up in Canada was just gorgeous...it's a Polar Bear watching place...with the lights added....awesome!

N-ice! I remember a photo from probably 10 years ago of an icicle toothed mouth and I believe it was called; Superior Monster. It looked like a gaping mouth with fangs coming down from the top and a view of Lake Superior when you looked through it. It was one of my all time favorites and I used it for my screensaver for years, but that computer died and it was lost. I felt a little sad watching that drone sink; Superior claims another victim, but thankfully there were no lives lost. The dramatic music was a nice touch. And was that a pike that I saw swimming on by?

Looked like a lake trout or perhaps a brown trout(?) I wonder what he told his trout friends afterward.

Donna,
As you noted, the lights on Isle Royale were pretty good earlier this week and completely blocked last night by overcast skies. I made this time-lapse video from Tuesday night.
