Let’s take a mini-vacation with Debbie Jarve as she drives to Copper Harbor on a beautiful winter day. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, there were only a few clouds along the way, it was nearly perfect, especially for snapping pictures. We drive past the Cliffs as we enter Phoenix, then a shot of the road along the way. We make a stop in Eagle Harbor for a photo of the tree in the middle of the marina road and a beautiful capture of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse across the Harbor. Another Lighthouse photo across the Harbor, this time it’s the Copper Harbor Light with a slight reflection on the ice in the bay. Then on the return trip, one more stop for a panoramic shot of Great Sand Bay. The ice has formed pretty far out from the shoreline now. Won’t be any swimming there for a few months. Debbie also shares a video from another drive a few days later, to McLain State Park so she could check out conditions on that shoreline. She said it was very cold there, but she bundled up warmly and enjoyed taking a walk by Lake Superior. With the sun shining it was quite refreshing!

Omgosh what great pictures. I always love
seeing that tree in the middle of the road.
It's so peaceful down at the Eagle Harbor
Marina. I love it down there. And the video
sounded amazing.

Thanks for taking us along on your mini
vacation.

Capt...pic one; could this be defined as Michigan's
Great Divide?
Sweet pix and a n-n-nice video! I wonder if being
immersed in that icy water for 60 seconds would do
anything for M.S.

Beautiful shots - thanks Debbie! They are all beautiful but my favorites are the lighthouses. As for the video - it makes me think about all the sailors that were thrown into icy waters like that from sinking ships. What a terrible fate.

Beautiful U.P. Winter.

I thought the "Great Divide" was during a Lions game when Green Bay was in town?? ;-)

Sadly, we won't be making it up for Winter Carnival this year as I got invited to a museum professionals meeting/dinner in Tucson, AZ. We do plan to up again this summer though, after a busy spring/summer of travel....
