Last week an Aurora was visible over the Keweenaw and thanks to Isaac Diener from Isaac Diener photography, we get a look at the event, too. Isaac said they were weak that night, but still bright enough to punch through the wildfire smoke we’ve been experiencing for the past month or so. It has also made for some outstanding sunsets lately, too. I like how he incorporated the signs at the top of Brockway Mountain into the first shot and then the Eagle Harbor Marina and Life Saving Station Museum in the second shot, along with the Northern Lights. I’m not sure if the bluish color light is the navigational buoy there at the entrance to the Harbor or if that’s a boat out there.

Isaac’s third picture was taken in the Ontonagon area. Different that the lightning was sideways across the sky, almost like it was crawling and reaching. At least when it’s headed that way, it won’t strike anything on the ground.

In case the lightning shot has you all stirred up, Steve Brimm over at Steve Brimm Photography shares 20 seconds of calm from French Annie Creek, located in the Copper Harbor area, near Lake Manganese.

Sorry we haven't been posting as much lately. Both Dr. Nat and I have been quite busy with life in general, but we have been enjoying the Keweenaw for a couple weeks now and will be here for another week or so. As a side note, if anyone will be in the Ishpeming area this Saturday, the Ishpeming Rock Show is happening and Nat will be the keynote speaker for the evening events speaking about Sweden's Iron Country and how it compares/contrasts with the Marquette Iron Range. Below is the web site for the Show poster:
