It’s the end of the month and the end of the year, so we pause from our daily photos for a duo of sunset photos to sit back and recall our loved ones and friends that have gone on before us. Today we remember:

Ralph Barton
George H.W. Bush
Steve Crouch
Tim Durocher
Joanne LeBlanc
James Rivest
Lynn Marie Waara
Servicemen and women who have given their all

We extend our deepest sympathy to all those who have lost someone near and dear to them. Please feel free to add the names of those you wish to remember on these pages.

As 2018 comes to a close, we thank all those who have shared photos with us in the past, and especially Sharon Bodenus for the Marquette Sunrise and Joe Kirkish for the 2010 Keweenaw Sunrise here today.

We'd like to remember our dear friend Betty Erne who
left this Earth for her eternal home yesterday. She
is now rejoicing, free of pain and distress, and for
that we are thankful.

This page is hard to come and look at because
it's got my brother and my cousin back to back
on the listing of people who passed. It was a
tough year with my brother going through so many
health problems from kidney disease & prostate
cancer. Then summer of 2018 he started with
dementia. That's so hard to deal with. The
phone calls were heartbreaking. Calling me
saying he was in Copper Harbor, or he was in
Freda, and could I come pick him up because he
has no way to get home. Totally heartbreaking
to go through. Then they discovered cancer in
his throat, traveling to his lungs, hip, sinuses
and finally the brain. He passed away on
December 26. We just had his funeral/memorial
last week when we were all together in Lake
Linden. It was a tough year of worrying about
him and what was going to happen next. Now he's
at peace but it's so hard to see his name typed
up there. My cousin Steve was a year younger
than my brother and he's had MS for years so you
knew it was coming, but still so hard on his
family.

Condolences to everybody else who lost loved
ones in December. It's never a good time, but
around the holidays it's worse.
