Plenty of action in our archives today, starting with a shot Barb Bouwkamp took back in 2011. She spotted three young boys skating around and around in a circle on what looks like a frozen puddle in the field there, right by US-41 in Calumet, so she stopped to snap a photo. I wonder if these boys ended up playing for the Calumet Copper Kings a few years later.

The next photo was shared in 2015, taken by the Bridge Cam, which had been out of commission for a couple months and was restored and back up and running once again. It’s a great view of the Bridge from one of the historic old homes in east Hancock.

Outside with the kids again, this time in 2016, with Jennifer Niedzwiecki’s kiddos who sure look like they’re enjoying themselves. From snowball fights, to painting in the snow, to building a snowman, the fun goes on and on with possibilities and even the family dog joins in the play.

Those are Laurie Bashaw’s grandkids in our current photo, who were so excited to go out and feed the critters that they didn’t take the time to change from their pajamas or even put on jackets. They look like they’re doing a little dance there, but they’re actually moving the food around with their feet, so they don’t get a human scent on it from their hands.

To accompany the skaters in the first photo, we have a video of a different type of skating, published by Bryan French in 2015. It’s called Ice Skate Sailing and this brave skater is testing it out on Lake Superior. Don’t try this at home, looks a bit dangerous to me. Exciting though, too!

That ice skate sailing looks fun. I bet I could do that as you don't
need too much energy. Just gotta hang on for dear life.

I believe I could do that too, if they make a chair-model.

yep, a chair model - love it! But could you
imagine how cold that is? If there is enough wind
to push you, wow, I'd be chilled down to the
