Bridges have frequently appeared on the Pasty Cam pages throughout the past 19 years. Some familiar, some not so much, as in the old railroad bridge that Donn de Yampert shared back in 2002. It crosses over the Pilgrim River in Houghton and is viewed from the Nara Nature trail there. It has seen more than its share of railroad traffic back in the day.

Then in 2009, Greg Burk was traveling across the Mackinac Bridge on his way to the U.P. and captured a rare photo of two lane traffic, all on the northbound lanes, while the southbound lanes were being resurfaced. Perhaps you’ve crossed the bridge when traffic is funneled into two lanes, rather than four.

Checking out the Big Mac photo, got me curious, so I did a search and found MightyMac.org - The Mackinac Bridge Facebook page, where today's third photo snapped by Keith Stokes comes from. This was taken during the 50th Anniversary celebration back in 2007 and no, you're not seeing double, that's actually a 101 foot long Erector Set model of the Mackinac Bridge, built by Forrest Wyrick, with the real thing in the background.

Also found on the MightyMac.org Facebook page is today's video. Here again, Keith is the photographer for this view of the 767 foot Cason J Callaway passing under the Mighty Mac. It starts out a little shaky, but is quite an impressive comparison of the size of the Bridge, the length of the boat and the tiny vehicles crossing over as the freighter passes under.

The Bridge model is amazing!

Saw where they are not going to allow regular traffic on the Bridge during the Walk on Labor Day. Excellent decision. A major pain for those traveling that day (as we always were going back to NMU) but considering the recent attacks, it's the right choice.

Heading north and crossing the Mighty Mac is a REAL Stress reliever, for real!!! I highly recommend it! lol I've never heard Dr. Oz mention it before!! lol..... Hey I think I have something here, and you don't need a pill!

I too, was impressed by the model of the Mackinac Bridge. 101 feet long is a long model. Build Forrest build.

I hear ya, UC...there is a calm that gently lays down when you cross over. I wonder if that is a feeling that only LPr's experience. And could you imagine a Big Mac attack? There would be 600,000 MI deer hunters loading up for bear.
Nice pix/video, BTW.

Everybody loves bridges. I love the model of the
Big Mac. Watching the freighters pass underneath
is always such a treat when we're down that way.
