Thanks to two Pasty Camist photographers today, we get a look at how the snow piles UP on everything in sight, along with how strong those things are for holding it all.

The first two shots are from Barb Bouwkamp. That sunflower sure has a strong stem to be still standing, especially topped with that load of snow it's holding. Who says flowers can't survive in the harsh U.P. winters? Here's proof they do!

The last two photos were snapped at Kathy Archambeau's home in Chassell. The snow covered her deck and her shovels, so you first have to brush off the shovel to even begin the snow removal process.
Here's Kathy's synopsis of moving the snow that's piled UP: "First you clean the snow off your shovels and then you shovel the snow off the deck and make a path to the garage to get the snow blower to clean the snow away from the truck so you can plow the driveway!" It's definitely a process and sometimes when the snow is coming down heavy, it can repeat several times in a 24 hour period. Just another day in our Winter Wonderland UP North!

N-ICE pix...and yes, that sunflower sure is bearing the load. First thought - hornets nest.

Omgosh! Every year it amazes me just how much snow
the UP gets. We have been in a deep freeze. I'll
take the snow!!!

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Saturday, January 7, 2017 - 10:24 am:

Nice that the sunflowers turn their heads down. The birds can still get at the seeds. How cool is that? A -6 here in Cornell this morning, we're up to 0 now.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Saturday, January 7, 2017 - 10:34 am:

Beautifully piled.

Thanks Lions, it's not even embarrassing anymore, it's expected! Blow up the franchise!! Disgusting!!

"When I die, I'd like the Lions to be my pallbearers, so they can let me down one last time!" Don't know the Author

Go Packers!!..... But you're used to it U.P. there, I'm jealous!!

By Rowdy (Roudymi) on Saturday, January 7, 2017 - 11:47 pm:

I find Strauss waltzes go very well with snow covered tall

By Greta Jones (Urbanescapees) on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 01:03 am:

Last time I checked, snow = cold.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 09:21 am:

Not really, Greta. I used to think that, too. But
when it's snowing out here, it's really a lot
warmer than when it's not. Of course, then spring
takes longer to come when you have so much snow on
the ground. Then, I'm happy we didn't get all that
snow. It's 6 of one and a half dozen of the other,
as the old saying goes.

By Greta Jones (Urbanescapees) on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 04:41 pm:

Deb, then I guess we can say snow = cold, no snow = colder. I know what you're saying. I lived in the UP, and in November we were praying for it to snow to "warm it up".

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 05:24 pm:

Exactly, lol!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, January 9, 2017 - 07:06 am:
