Melanie Hakala Rossi made a late fall trek to the tip of the Keweenaw, taking in some of the more well known spots in the area. As much as I love the color of fall when the leaves are changing, there's something about this leafless roadway that keeps me intrigued and interested. Maybe it's all the shadows on the road, I'm just not sure.

The first stop here today is across the channel from the Mendota Lighthouse. This scene doesn't look like late fall at all with all the pine trees surrounding the light, it's all still green there. Then a quick stop along the Lac La Belle beach to either make some last footprints in the sand or just capture someone elses footprints already left behind.

After that, Melanie headed down the trail to Keystone Bay. If only we had smellvision here on the Pasty Cam, you'd be getting a whiff of those fall leaves blanketing the way. Arriving on the beach at Keystone Bay, there were no footprints, just a few rocks and a gentle wave rolling in. Talk about a peaceful scene.

The last stop here today is at Lake Manganese... not even a ripple in the water there, just quietude to end the day of exploring with. Enjoy it folks, from the forecast I've heard, we've got some wind and snow on the way.

I agree Mary ~ the bare trees have a beauty all their own.

If you sing these subtitles, it sounds almost like Keweenaw Light by Whitewater!

"Heading down the trail to Keystone Bay" from Bete Grise Road. That's a bit of a trip. I wonder how Melanie made the trek. Oh how I want to get back to Keystone Bay. I camped out there 42 years ago for a weekend and walked all the way in and out from Copper Harbor. Oh how I wish I had those knees again. It has to be the best beach in the Keweenaw.

Fantastic picture of Lake Manganese. Certainly it's not that calm now. We're all in for a continued big blow, low temps. and precipitation tonight and tomorrow. My precipitation will be a bit more liquid than most of yours. Looks like our mild Autumn is finally over.

I also noticed the Lake is quite empty tonight with 15 to 20 foot waves forecast. Only a couple of Salties that think they know what they're doing.

Everyone of those photos are like being there for me, THANKS MELANIE AND MARY!

This is always a tough time of year for me. I always looked forward to my vacation/deer hunting time at LB with my pal Marty, Grandpa Norm (dad) and the rest of the crew. It's just memories now, but great one's at that!

D.A., I agree Keystone is the best beach in the Keweenaw, followed by a close second, Bete Grise!

The Keweenaw never runs out of scenic beauty.

Every single one of these pictures caught my eye.
Love them.
