Let's get the parade started...

...and come back tomorrow for the finale.

Thanks to Paul Meier for these shots take by his Grandfather, Frederick J. Haun

Have a good weekend!

Thank you for sharing, Paul! Great images from another time in history.

Time it was, and what a time it was
It was...a time of innocence
A time of confidences

Long ago, it must be...I have a photograph
Preserve your memories
They’re all that’s left you.

By Dan (Ermigrant) on Monday, July 4, 2016 - 06:57 am:

Thanks for the pictures Paul.

The paraders in the first picture include Larry, Dan(me), and Mary Steck. In the background are my Uncle Jack and Aunt Mary from Milwaukee and my mother (still alive at 105)shooting 8mm home movies.

My dad usually took the movies and I have digitized copies. I'll take a look around today to see if I can find footage from this parade.

Happy 240th Birthday, U.S.A. God bless you.

If these scenes aren't what America is all about, i don't know what is! Sure hope you find the home movies, Dan!

Happy Birthday America! May God shed His grace on thee!

"If these scenes aren't what America is all about, i don't know what is! …"

Oboy, isn't that the truth! Especially in small town America.

What's six people and a national holiday? In nearly any small town in the UP, that's makings for a parade, as in "'50's July 4th in Eagle River"! Love it!

And congratulations to Dan (Ermigrant)'s mom, with many more years to come!

Mrs. Steck was the French teacher at Calumet High School for many years. I graduated in 1966.
