Linda Schneller has had some fluffy visitors at her Bootjack home lately. A mother goose and her goslings have been hanging out there learning how to be geese, so they can go off into the Keweenaw on their own when they're big enough.

How fun to watch these fluffy little critters following Mom around on land and in the water, too. And you can see by Linda's second photo, how protective Mom is of her brood, too. Her neck is stretched out and she's on the alert whenever she sees or hears anything that could be a threat to her little family.

This is one of the best parts about living in the Keweenaw, being able to be right there with nature and the critters, watching life unfold.

Nice pix...I had to stop for a family of eight or so, crossing the road just yesterday.

Cute babies but the adults are so aggressive! Like you say, protecting the little ones!

Love watching mamas and their babies out in the
wild.

Very cute, except when they want to live, breathe,
eat, etc. etc. right where you want to be,
especially when they are in large numbers.

The goslings are in good hands with Mother Goose on guard. A majestic bird they are and I enjoy the melodious sound that fills the skies when they are in flight. They sure do know how to turn a park into a place to be avoided though.

I wonder which Goose is Top Gun. When I was well enough to ride the Wing, I used to say..."I feel the need for speed".

Thanks 4 sharing. The Canada Goose is one of my favourite species of goose.

I spotted these goose families on the Houghton waterfront trail last evening. I had to stop my bike for a group photo (you can't really see the babies on the right, but there were three little families there). I couldn't resist snapping one as they fled to the water to get away from the crazy lady on the bike. Ha, ha...
