On a recent sunny day, Halli Lindley and family stopped in Baraga to visit Pete's Petting Zoo. The description on their Facebook page says: "Pete's is a unique non-profit. Its residents are primarily rescued animals of all kinds from throughout the UP and even further. There is never a charge." But from what I understand they do accept donations and appreciate when you can help out with one.

They have quite an assortment of animals there to feed and pet, including llamas, exotic birds, goats, deer and miniature horses, which you see here today in Halli's photos. There are numerous other types of animals there, too, so it's a great place to take the kids if you want to see them smiling and laughing. And if you bring along some fresh fruit, vegetables or even some Cheerios, you can feed the residents for some close up interaction. They also have vending machines that dispense bags of feed for 50¢.

Halli's daughter enjoyed the visit with the animals there, you can see it in her face how much she was loving all the interaction with these critters. My favorite shot of them all, though, is the second one, with the Llama smiling so big. I wonder if Halli said "cheese" to make him smile or perhaps Halli's husband and daughter were in the background making faces to get that grin. Whatever method they chose, it did the trick!

The last photo Halli snapped at the Humane Society where her daughter was able to hold and play with the cats. She didn't say if they adopted any, but I bet her daughter was asking if they could!

A fine looking group of critters that are no longer hungry or cold thanks to some caring individuals.

Hey, I used to know someone who looked just like the smiling llama in the second shot! He was a pretty cool dude! (LOL!)
Kidding aside, great shots of some nice critters. And kudos to Pete's for all that they do!! Blessings to you!

What a fun place to go. Of course I love the kitty
:-) The llama pictures bring a smile to me and make
me think of Laurel aka llamamama. Hard to believe
that she's been gone for nearly 7 years now. I
still miss her posts and her very funny e-mails.

Cute animals. The girl is certainly having a good time.

Pony petting, have been doing that for 55 years, I
never tire of it.

I think the Llama is just pleased with the new hair-do.

Wonderful pics! I may have to go there and visit the
critters. I miss the little place on the Calumet Hill
with the llama and ponies etc.
