Back in 2012, John Dodge led the Copper Country in the World Wide Photo Walk at Hunter's Point and he's doing so again this year on October 3rd.

John provided the photos and the following details about the event, including registration information:

Every year Scott Kelby sponsors his Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, the world's largest photo walk! The 8th annual event is happening Saturday, Oct. 3, and currently there are 960 walks with close to 16,000 participants. This year the walk in the Copper Country will take place in Calumet.

The Calumet Walk is scheduled at 4:45 PM to 7:15 PM, to catch the "Golden Hour" before sunset. There are two main areas that will be explored and photographed on the Calumet walk.

* The Downtown Historic District. The buildings along Fifth and Sixth Streets comprise the main commercial section of Calumet. The majority of the structures in the Historic District were constructed in the years between 1880 and 1910. In addition, we will seek out the historic church buildings located throughout Calumet.
* The Calumet and Hecla Industrial area which comprises remaining mining company buildings, many of which have been beautifully restored by the Keweenaw National Historical Park.
Amanda George and Lynette Webber from the KNHP have helped design our walk route and will be helping to lead the walk and provide historical background information on the buildings and sites in Calumet.

The Photo Walk is open to shooters of all levels; anyone who owns a camera is welcome. This is about meeting other local photographers and photography enthusiasts, learning and sharing. After the Photo Walk, the walkers will meet for a light meal and/or a drink at the Michigan House Cafe. This will be a chance to talk about the walk and share photos.

The event is free, but pre-registration is required. JOIN THE CALUMET PHOTO WALK by clicking on the following link: REGISTRATION. You can get all the details there and you will receive updates as the plans for the walk are finalized. If you have questions, leave a comment on the web page or contact walk leader John Dodge at dodger8846@gmail.com.

Wow! That sounds like fun. I just got back from the
Keweenaw last weekend, so I won't be able to go
again. Have fun, everyone!

Looks like a great time and possibly a Guinness World Record for the world's largest photo walk???

Looks like a fun filled day to explore the history of Calumet, as well as learn new photo techniques. I wish I could be there, but alas, I can't. The last two times I have been in the area, I walked through Calumet shooting B&W photos of many of the historic buildings. Except for the ocassional "modern" vehicle, they look like they could have been taken 100+ years ago. It was a neat experiment that I'll be doing again in the future.

Good photos, and I hope the photos in the next are at least as good. :)
