Before you ask, no, these bears are not a nuisance and yes, they're welcome to visit this back yard here in the Keweenaw any time they'd like. According to Rachel TheBearLady, she's had bears visiting her yard for 10 years and she names them when they keep coming back, bringing their babies along too. Rachel mentioned that they don't come in the yard when she or family members are outside, because they're afraid of people, but as soon as they go inside, the bears will come in the yard and feast on the treats that are put out there for them to enjoy. And in case you're worried, don't be, in the 10 years they've been coming, they have never shown any signs of aggression and will even allow her to sit outside on her porch where the door is right behind her. They have never caused any problems and are not destructive, because they have food. One of the bears that she has named Molly has been coming for 8 years and has brought 4 litters with her during that time.

Rachel enjoys watching them and photographing their families antics, but she also likes to share them with others who enjoy watching bears, so she started a Facebook page, called Yooper Bears. If you'd like to check out more bear photos from Rachel, just click on the link and then ask to "Join" the Yooper Bears group.

The last photo of the Doe and her fawns is from Paulette Aho who also has back yard visitors at her home in White Pine. She said there were actually three fawns there, but one is hidden behind the mother.

Mother Nature's critters are pretty amazing to view, especially mother's with their young. Here UP North, we're lucky to have these types of shows going on right in our own back yards.

How cool it would be to have those bears coming back year after year. Those cubs are beyond cute! And Mama sure looks like she needs that soak! Fun pictures Rachel, thanks!

Can we order some Yooper Bears with our pasty orders from Pasty Central after Labor Day? 😉

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, August 6, 2015 - 10:20 pm:

Oh my gosh! These pictures are adorable.
I'd love having these babies coming to my
yard, as long as my pets are inside, of
course. What fun for Rachel. And I
always love seeing pictures of deer.
We're usually treated to deer visiting
when we're here at my mom's. This year
they haven't shown up. I have 2 more days
to hope.

Thanks for sharing these.
