Brenda Leigh likes to get out in the early morning hours and just a few days back was doing just that when she spotted this pair of geese flying in low over the ice that remains there in the Brimley area and was able to snap a few shots as they landed and settled in for a break from their flight north. I'm not sure if the ice is still there, as it does move around with the winds, but I'm sure the geese will be happy when it's all gone and there is just open water as far as the eye can see. I know I will be.

That's a huge immature eagle in her third photo. Brenda said she was watching the freighters going by, when she noticed a shadow from overhead. Looking up she saw this majestic bird with an amazing wing span and she was able to just stand there and watch as it flew right over her. Sounds like a great way to start any day!

Those geese could just ice skate across!

sometimes it is funny to watch them slip and slide as they try and walk on ice

Canada geese are such beautiful birds. Some flock to my pond every spring.

The sound of the geese while in flight is quite melodious and pleasing to the ear. If they have been bivouacked for a few days in a place that is dear to your heart, what they leave behind when they decamp is not so pleasing. By the by I've yet to see or hear my first flock this spring.

I love Canada Geese. We have them where I live, 2.

If you ever see a flock by the side of the road, use caution driving by. Two years ago I was driving by a couple dozen and they decided to take flight in the direction of my truck. As you may know, they do not go straight up, but instead they take off like 747 jets. It sounded like bowling balls bouncing off the side of my vehicle.
