White is the color for Keweenaw Bay in the Baraga area, this wintry time of year. Not just on the ground, but covering the trees when the weather conditions get just right and the frost settles on the morning scenes, like this one from Donna MacIntosh. This is one of those photos with a number of possibilities...the first that come to mind are a challenging U.P. puzzle; a great winter wonderland post card; or better yet, a beautifully framed and matted UP North picture. Too bad Christmas is over, I could have put these on my "wish" list. :->

Even the trees are frosty. Good photo.

Beautiful picture, Donna. I know it sounds weird, but I can hear the silence in your photo. When everything is frozen, it's so amazing how quiet it is. We don't often get to experience that in our noisy world.

All those feathery ice crystals capture stray sound and return it in sunlight as slow, soft drips.

What I enjoy about frosty mornings is when the sun comes up and warms the trees you can hear the ice falling, very delicately so as not to disturb that glorious silence!

SOMEONE SAID THE LORD SPEAKS TO US IN SILENCE.

Thanks...we do live in a stunningly beautiful area! I got this quote in an email today:

Any place is sacred ground, for it can become a place of encounter with the divine Presence.

David Steindl-Rast
A Listening Heart

And this is right next to the Ojibwa Campgrounds, where the annual pow wow is always held. I remember going in there, and a sign said "You are now entering SACRED GROUND"....

This is how the good Lord tells us we are on Sacred Ground!

Thank you Donna for an unforgetable quote I will always remember. How true. Our Creator is everywhere. We just need to stop and listen to His quiet presence.

I love winter pictures. They are quiet and peaceful.

We had the same stunning horefrost this morning when I had to go Savanna. Wish I had my camera with me. Expecting rain later this week. Staying indoors as much as possible.
