Beautiful scene -- did Taka venture onto the ice to capture this view? it's most certainly a WOW!

On Dec 23, 2001 I posted a message on the pasty cam. In that message I mentioned Bumbletown Hill, the place where my parents live. It was responded to by a very beautiful lady who also lived in Florida. She like me also lived in the Copper Country as a child. We spent the last year getting to know each other after meeting on the Pasty Cam last Christmas Holiday. I still live in Florida but she has moved to Bumbletown Hill. In the process of helping her move back home to Michigan and up on our hill we fell in love and are are getting Married this New Years Day up on our hill. What can I say? The Pasty Cam has made me the happiest man in the world. Soon we will both be on the hill with our family and friends.

Marvin, what a nice story. What more can a man ask for? I wish happiness for your wife and you.

Marvin, much happiness love and joy to you and your wife to be. What a great way to start a new life together than to begin with the new year. I love to visit the UP but I like the warm weather nearly year round in Florida, so I am staying here.

Great pictures-- As a youngster growing up in Hubbell I often went to this water falls. We called it the "Bluff" so as not to confuse it with the larger water falls down stream. It was a great place to cool off on a hot day. In the late 1940's the large rocks (bolders) on the right side (in the summmer view) had fallen and made the water pool below the falls smaller -- as it is today. My father often talked of swimming there in the 1910"s. -Sue make you feel at home!

Thanks for the link to Evert's snowmobile rental. I was coming up in a month to go skiing, but maybe I'll take the family on some snowmobile trails.

Anyone have a suggestion for a simple but interesting trial? They have several rental locations - Eagle River, Copper Harbor, Belle Grise, Hancock - where would you ride?

I would guess going up on Brockway Mt. would be neat - but Eagle Harbor has the old railway trail along Cliff Drive. Suggestions for a Texan?

Hello from a Finn in Oregon; I just logged on to Pasty.com because I love pasties and cannot find them in Oregon...! I was in UP Michigan a few years back, got reacquainted with pasties and fell in love with them, again...not since my childhood days in Michigan and northern Idaho have I tasted pastys. Anyway, want to order some and will. Come to think of it, I did have some great pastys in Iron River when I was back meeting relatives for the first time. We moved from UP when I was only 4 y.o. I've been thru Hubbell many times but don't know where Hungarian Falls is. They look beautiful, especially in winter. Help?

Sherry...I think the Hungarian Falls are outside Lake Linden off the Calumet hill highway. I believe there is parking but you must walk in to see the falls....but, where is Bumbletown Hill?

Mary Lou....I think you're describing Douglas Houghton Falls, which is now on private property. There was some discussion on this awhile back, but I can't seem to locate it now.
Hungarian Falls are just north of Tamarack-Hubbell. There is a sign that marks the road. Maybe some other pasty cammers can be more helpful. I was surprised you didn't get more comments. Everyone must be relaxing after the holidays. :-)

The falls on the Calumet hill north of Lake
Linden are the Douglass-Houghton falls. They
used to be open to the public, but are now
posted private property. The Hungarian falls
can be accessed from the Hubbell-Tamarack
area. There is a sign on M-26 pointing the
way, although getting there this time of year
might be a little trickier than getting there in the
summer. You can drive up to a parking area,
then a bit of hiking is in order. Good luck!
