Sometimes you can see each molecule in Dan Urbanski's nature photography. Today's cascading close-up comes from the banks of the Big Iron River down by White Pine.

By the way, I saw the proofs of the beautiful new Pasty Cam 2003 Calendar today, and Dan grabbed 4 of the monthly honors. The layout is greatly improved, with handy previews and reviews of each month, as well as expanded notation of holidays. A visual feast of the UP north experience. We expect to start sending them out by Thanksgiving. Watch for the order form coming next week.

Absolutely Awesome! A true artist at work with the camera. This has to be the most gorgeous picture I have ever seen. Makes me feel like I am right there.

Awsome photo. Can see why Dan grabbed 4 of the months. His photos are some of the best that I've ever seen.

John A. Missouri what part of Mo are you in??

I see what appears to be a giant bubble near the foam base bottom of this watery staircase(just to the right of center).
Is there a shutter speed you can recommend for us amateur camera buffs which will "freeze" the river's "flow" just as you've done here, Dan?
Beautiful shot!

FANTABULESS!!!!!!! Makes us homesick for the U.P., even though the snow will soon fly in earnest, and it will get plenty cold!

Beautiful picture! I would like it on my wall. Also perfectly refreshing, as I have just returned from three days in the Sonoran desert. Very windy there, and dry and rocky - not a drop of water in sight. Great timing! Thanks!

For Cousin Jack:

To stop action in flowing water a shutter speed of 1/250
or greater is needed. In this case, I dragged my shutter
at about 1/4 second to give the water its silky effect. The
bubble just happened to be trapped and fairly
