Here is a picture of the lighthouse at the opening of the cut from Lac La Belle into Lake Superior (Bete Grise). Hope you like it...

The Picture was taken in August of 2001 on a "Keweenaw Circle Tour" that my Dad and I try to do every year in our boat. Looking forward to coming back up the first full week in August for another week.

As I make some sales calls in down town Chicago, Grant Park is beautiful, next to the lake this time of year, I'll close my eyes and wish I was in a canoe with my wife drifting past the lighthouse.

I think you're going to have to set up a special lighthouse WOW section. The UP is so beautiful, I miss it so much. Only 2 1/2 weeks!

By Drew, Michigan on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 09:40 am:

That is an absolutely beautiful picture. Have you considered professional photography?

By Martha K., Pinckney, MI on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 11:43 am:

Uh, Jeff, I do hope you mean your wife is in the canoe with you.

By Mary on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 11:49 am:

Martha,

Thanks for making me chuckle! :)

By Yooper in Indiana on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 01:13 pm:

brings back many memories of swimming at the end of the road! Also spent many hours water skiing from the lighthouse, through the breakwater onto the lake or to Lac La Belle. Was neat, but doubt if I could take the cold water anymore. Anyway, only 4 weeks till I get to the Bay. The more pictures I see of the great Keweenaw, the more I would like to return. Can't believe that on MSN today the beach at Bete Grise wasn't on the top 10 in the US. Maybe that is good,,!

I agree with that Drew guy. That picture is breathtaking Andrew. It must be nice to be the only child and get to go on such neat vacations with your Dad. Lucky Dog!

Sarah, Didn't Dad want you to clean up your room today? ;)

By M.H.,ILLINIOS on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 03:58 pm:

What a cool picture! I'm crazy about lighthouses.
I always look at the PastyCam because you guys have such great lighthouse pictures! Oh,and by the way, here's a suggestion for the people at PastyCam: Have a special section for lighthouse pics! I would totally love that!:}

Andy, for your information I JUST cleaned my room 2 days ago.. AND it doesn't smell like stinky feet like when you lived here (just kidding).. Hello Kathy, thanks for the hello. The turkey that took this picture also lived up in Dryden as well.

By Ken from da UP on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 12:06 am:

Mimi and I were here across from Mendota last Friday. I even got to cool my feet in Bete Gris! The water wasn't even that cold. No, really! :o) We drove around Lac La Belle and even saw a black bear on his hind feet looking at us. 'Course we were in the car at the time. I used to cut cedar mine ties and timbers across from the beach with my step-dad. We'd stop near Delaware to wash up in the Gratiot (?) River and Brrr, was it cold!
