Leading up to next weekend's Lighthouse Celebration in the Keweenaw, we'll be featuring photos from various beacons around the region. Pasty Cam visited Big Bay Point Bed and Breakfast a while back. (You'll find a number of lights in the last four and a half years of the Cam archives.) Nancy Nelson sent the top scene of Rock Harbor light, as viewed from the path leading to Edison Fishery on Isle Royale.

Speaking of Isle Royale... last Friday's virtual visit yielded the Wallpaper of the Week, a real beauty by my son-in-law Bryan Howard.

Oh... there was one more shot Captain Ben Kilpela sent from the island, taken along Tobin Harbor Trail. Looks like his son Logan swung that Star Wars light sabre a little too close to the tree on the left.

Any one of the three views today look far cooler than the 110 heat index we had today in Central Illinois. We need Lake Superior down here!

Happy to see Big Bay Point as we spent two days and nights there last summer. It was so beautiful. Only down fall were the flies. Hope to return to this area soon.

Big Bay Point brought back good memories of the Sept 1995, when we did fall leaves in the UP.
Enjoying all of the lighthouses!

I'm especially fond of the Rock Harbor Light because in the 1960's I helped in stablizing the tower for the National Park Service. Not far to the NE is the site of Algoma shipwreck of Nov. 1885

I used to play with a good friend who was Petes nephew, Art Johnson, in the late 50s and early 60s. I lived on the island with my folks. I saw the picture and knew where it was immediately. Good memories- but sure did not appreciate the island at 5 to 15 years old as I would now!
