Three weeks from today, the Women's Hockey Club at Michigan Tech is leaving for a week of play-offs in Anchorage, Alaska, in a bid for the national championship! The team has had an exciting season, continually improving their offense and defense, and they are ready for a shot at the title.

If you've ever ordered from Pasty Central on our toll-free line, chances are you spoke to Becky Howard. That's her in the goalie gear, in the front row on the right.

Unlike the men's sports program at MTU, the women have to raise their own support for the team's travel expenses. Would you like to help them compete for the National Championship? For a contribution of $10 or more, Becky will send you a colorful Pasty Cam 2002 calendar, which you can order by email or toll-free (1-877-727-8911). Just give her your name and address to send your calendar, and make your contribution for the team at this secure link.

And hopefully four weeks from now you can say, "I helped support the 2002 Women's Hockey Champions!".

Good luck Huskies!

Ready to rumble

Thanks to all who have followed the secure link today to make a contribution to help with the team's travel expenses to Alaska. The friends of Pasty Central have been very generous and helpful in supporting worthy causes, and this is a good one. While the men's teams have the benefit of established funding, the ladies have to raise their own support.

For those who called and requested a Pasty Cam 2002 Calendar (for a gift of $10 or more), I see that she is headed to the post office!

At the risk of sounding like a public television telethon, again here's that secure link, or you can call toll-free 1-877-727-8911. Becky will probably be the one answering (after she mails today's calendars :o).

Good luck to the MTU Women's Hockey Club!! We also will be rooting for you from the West Coast. We're happy to support these girls, and hope they go all the way! We'll also be looking forward to receiving our Pasty Cam calendar. Now we can get a double dose of you each day, with Pasty Central and the calendar. Go Huskies!!!

Good luck ladies! I had a ton of fun with women's ice hockey at Tech in the late 70's, early 80's. It was just intramurals then but I'm thrilled to see expanded programs for women's ice hockey now. Have fun and good luck!

On behalf of the Huskies, thanks to Pasty Central for the great support and to those who have left messages and good luck wishes. We are honored to be able to represent Michigan Tech, the Copper Country, the Upper Peninsula, and the State of Michigan in Alaska at the National Tournament.

When I went to tech back in the sixty's, all the hocky players were imported from Canada. They all lived in their own little village near the sports field on the east end of the campus. They were great competitors.
