Sometimes we spend hours at the keyboard here in Pasty-land - especially before the holidays, what with all of the pasty orders from every corner of North America. Anyway, on this particular afternoon I was slaving away at the details of Pasty Central, becoming quite thirsty. Suddenly - YOU'VE GOT MAIL - and I open my Inbox to find a refreshing drink from Dan Urbanski. Ahhh...

A frequent contributor to the Pasty Cam, Dan has a selection of greeting cards this year, featuring more of the rugged beauty of the U.P. Check it out at QuietlyWild.

You know, I grew up in The U.P., but am now living in Central Nebraska. I watch the Pasty Cam religiously! Sometimes, here in the flatlands, I forget how attached I am to water. We take it for granted in Michigan, being suurrounded by it. Here in NE there are no lakes within an afternoon's drive, and I often find myself daydreaming about the shores of our Great Lakes. Thank you for the refreshing winter picture!

Yes, Tim! I live in Ventura, CA, right near the ocean. But when you look across the water, you see the Channel Islands, so the ocean looks more like a lake than an ocean, since you can see "the other side." When you look across any of the Great Lakes, you can't see the other side, so seems more like an ocean! Funny!

In addition, some of the lakes near Santa Barbara and Ventura are sources of drinking water for the communities, so you can't put any part of your body in them! Ain't that a concept.

Keep up the good work.

Dan, are you sure that "Ice Cave" isn't an iced
over Mailbox? HaHa! Thats what it looks like to me. I know, us trolls don't know much, do we?
All kidding aside, thanks again for my daily
taste of the Keweenaw!

Public THANK YOU to Pastycam hosts and especially to gifted Dan Urbanski, who shares so generously of his skills in capturing the beautiful northwoods and great lakes so many of us love!!!
I am currently located in central IL prairie on the side of a morraine, not a great lake in driving distance, not even more than a handful of trees, certainly no pines, not much snow, Pastycam is my link to what I hope is in my future as much as a heartfelt tie to my past!I visit often. Thanks again!
