In case you tried to reach Pasty Central on Thursday, 10/5, you may have received a message that the server was busy or unavailable. A major routing problem across the information superhighway put us on the sidelines for awhile, a good evening for a walk on the beach.

We have had a lot of Northern Light activity in recent weeks, so Jonathan gave his new Pasty Cam a little low-light test. Like a wavy curtain in the breeze, the streaks danced across the stars.

On Friday morning we came back on-line, as the Copper Country awoke to its first substantial snow of the season.

I couldn't get on when I checked at about 8:30 this morning. I wondered why. Thanks for the explanation. The snow sounds good to me. It is very very hot here today but the promise is for cooler weather on Sunday.

What a beautiful picture. Any filter used to make it so green?

As I have only lived up here in the UP for about two months I have not had the pleasure of seeing the Northern Lights for quite some time. I feel privileged to be able to witness such an awesome event orchastrated by the hand of God. Thank you for reminding me how great our God is!

FABULOUS!!! There's no place like the Keewenaw to see the Northern Lights. Most people from down here in troll country have never even seen the Northern Lights. What a beautiful sight!

When I was a kid, I saw the Northern Lights in Ontonagon. They were mostly white waves. Then a few years later, I saw them again in Detroit. But this time they were multi-colored. I was also told that that was very unusual. That usually the UP had more colorful lights and that the Northern Lights were rare in Detroit. May have been, because I never saw them again!

I'm originally from Chassell and we live on the bay and besides the wonderful moon rising over the bay the next best sight is the northern lights seen. I've been in 4 different states in the last few years and the Copper Country will always always be home. Thanks for taking me back home every day with your pictures...

I grew up in the UP and would love for my daughter to experience the northern lights. Any suggestions for the best time of the year? We typically visit the UP/Door County in June.
