As fall canal colors near their peak, I found this herring gull resting on a waterfront post. Its motionless form drew me into a staring match. You can see, the camera blinked first.

Is the Isle Royale Queen still around? I sold tickets for its trips to Isle Royale from Copper Harbor in 1954.
