Some may call it Indian Summer, but we have experienced quite a warm spell the past few days here in Keweenaw. Good weekend to do some exploring! Judging by the traffic we see on US-41, Cliff Drive, and Five Mile Point Road, it seems quite a few folks agree.

Ever notice how some old cars look like a face? Eyes made of headlights, a smiling grill (this one is toothless) and an emblem of a nose. Jon Hopper snuck up on this old Chevy while he had his new Fuji S-1 out for a test drive. (That's not a car, by the way, it's a camera).

This is the week to explore the U.P., as colors are just reaching their peak. A favorite time of the year for the Pasty Cam.

Charlie - Well, it looks like I left about 4 days too early, as usual. It was COOOOOOLD Thursday morning in Copper Harbor! And it was cloudy, so I couldn't enjoy the wonderful color to its fullest while driving down to Houghton (not that it wasn't gorgeous - I'll take what I can get!).
On the subject of the picture, this is the one thing that makes me sad about exploring in the Keweenaw: you never know when you will come across an old abandoned car...or an impromptu dump full of old appliances, etc., like one place I know about. Somehow, our forefathers thought the Keweenaw was so big they could leave their junk around anyplace they wanted and noone would care. I HOPE most people today are more responsible about where they "recycle"!

"Amen" to the dumping! But don't tell me the trees are already this gorgeous! Coming to Mackinac Island October 14. Sure hope I don't miss the show!

Thank you for the beautiful photos. Lived in Michigan for many, many years. I still miss it very much. I come back to visit quite often. Your photos bring "home" back to me. Thanks again.

Another transplanted Yooper, this one was born in Hancock. The old Chevy actually looks kind of neat, but won't somebody please make the bozo on US 41 near Mohawk clean up his junkyard, or at least put up a high fence?

Pasty Cam is terrific, wish I'd been watching since it started. Washington is beautiful, but nothing beats the Keeweenaw!

You CAN watch it since it started, by visiting the Pasty Cam Archives. Click on any month in 1998, 1999, or 2000 at the top of the current week, and then along the left side of each month, you can select the week. The Pasty Cam will soon celebrate 1,000 days of continuous coverage of life in the U.P., with it's special focus on the Keweenaw.

This picture is awesome. I printed it out, framed it up and looks almost as good as my wallpaper now does! Hung it next to a painting of Ellen Torola's of Bete Gris, my favorite spot in the Keweenaw. A little bit of home in my living room!

Keep up the superb pics!

Your pictures are great. I am a former resident of the Keweenaw, born and raised up there but have been in Illinois for over fifty years. We come up to spend time up there every summer at my old homestead in Redridge. We have missed only 2 years in all of the fifty. Spent 9 weeks up there this past summer. It was great. Love your pictures. Keep up the good work.

I miss the fall colors. I miss the vacations spent in Phillipsville. So please keep the fall colors coming, and if you can get a picture of Phillipsville or Bumbletown, it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure there weren't a couple of people in the back seat?
Seriously, I love this site and the pics are gorgeous. Someday I will get to the Keweenaw in the fall...

I just came upon this site last week while looking for a web cam for the UP. I grew up in the UP and miss the Great Lakes in the summer and the beautiful fall colors. We have the golds here but not the reds. I am always telling people about the beautiful fall colors in the UP. I was glad to find this site and will be visiting frequently to see the photos. It is however making me homesick. I was glad to have grown up in the UP.
