On my way back from Marquette I thought I'd take a short cut through Big Bay and wound up with a longer route than I anticipated. :o) No problem, a beautifully sunny late summer day and unmatched UP scenerey made the trip extension a pleasent journey.

So many interesting end-of-the-road places (Like the Big Bay Lighthouse B&B above) and so little time to enjoy them.

Wow Jon, looks like you and I stood about the same spot. You got the sun shining, though. I wasn't as lucky. http://members.home.net/yooperhomepage/bigbay.jpg

Lighthouse was on ANATOMY OF A MURDER tour taken when it was bran'new...Courthouse in Marq., even the pig in Big Bay - and now I can't recall name.
Also saw the Wooden Man in Marquette, made from two cedar trees. Lighthouse lady was very hospitable, and yes, I would like to go back...also on the agenda of tour - THUNDERBAY INN - which is also a must-do-as-soon-as-time-permits...so far it's been 4 years. Sigh.

My California native husband & I stayed at the Big Bay lighthouse a few years ago. I took him to see where I grew up(Escanaba)& where I went to college (Mich Tech)& then on to Copper Harbor for a few days. We loved the atmosphere & food very much !!! Definitely recommend the place.
