What a joy it has been this summer to receive so many special scenes from the wonderful folks who frequent these pages. I instantly fell in love with this little girl and felt transported to that rock, with the ripples of the lake and the warmth of the sun.

During the past full year of "In Memory" (our tribute on the last day of each month), there have been some beautiful sights... sunsets... quiet woods... the solitude of winter... and even a rainbow. But, until today, not a single person has appeared within the view. The innocence of youth is a fitting compliment to the awesome mystery of creation.

A personal word about this month's memorial names. George Bryan was one of my heroes when I was a child. A leader in our church, a true man of God, his words and his life were one. In fact, the definition of "integrity" (like integer, being "one" publicly and privately) is what comes to mind when I think of George. His faith-fulness touched many lives - including mine. Our condolences and love to his extended family.

You are welcome to email us with any name you would like included next month, or post your own tribute on this page, for a special person to be remembered.

Though my husband's mother was born in Hancock, this was our first visit to the U.P. On this occasion, we were gathered with the Condon relatives for the wedding of his cousin in Silver City. Later on, many of the wedding guests gravitated to the Lake Superior shore to relish in the picture-perfect summer evening and sunset - among them the subject of this photo, our 6-year-old daughter, doing what she never seemed to tire of... playing in the water with sticks and stones.

We fell in love with the scenic beauty and the people of the Upper Peninsula and can't wait to return. It felt like coming home.

Was George Bryan Uncle George from Church Camp? Aw gee . . .

Thank you for remembering the 118 men who lost their lives on the Kursk this month. If the familes knew, I'm sure they would be touched.

Paul

We are having the last of our pasties that we brought home in July, so thought I would let you know how we enjoyed them and enjoyed meeting you when we were there. Look forward to our next trip "home".
