Evening Programs begin at 7:30 PM EDST

SPECIAL EVENTS

Saturday, 7/23 “Kids at Fort Wilkins: Games From the Past” – Program begins at 10:00 AM
Costumed interpreters (future historians and NMU students) will demonstrate period games such as hoop and stick races, 3-legged
Races, graces, watermelon eating contest, seed spitting contest, blind man’s buff, and croquet. There will also be a game table for
jacks, tops, slates, pick up sticks, etc.

Saturday, 7/23 “Fort Wilkins by Candlelight” – Program begins at 8:00 PM.

Cast a giant shadow as you time-travel through Fort Wilkins. By candlelight, you will visit with costumed interpreters stationed at an
officer’s parlor, married soldier’s quarters, post hospital, and company headquarters. Light refreshments will be served in the restored
1844 mess hall.

DAILY PROGRAMS

Living History Program – Costumed interpreters will be acting as members of the military garrison. You are invited to leave the present and join them in the year
1870. 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (6/18/05 through 8/19/05)

Lighthouse Boat Tours – Departing daily from the Copper Harbor Marina 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (hourly) and evening hours, 7 days a week (per person charge).

Fort Wilkins Natural History Association Park Store – Open Seven Days a Week 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Wildflower Exhibit - Daily in the married enlisted men’s cabins

Friday, August 5 “Battery D 1st Michigan Light Artillery Civil War Encampment”
Saturday, August 6 Living history comes alive at Fort Wilkins as Battery D, 1st Michigan Light Artillery, recreates life of the Civil War era.
Sunday, August 7 The weekend encampment will be open to park visitors from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Battery D will recreate army life of the period
as well as demonstrate artillery and small arms drills, period cooking, and soldier’s pastimes.

Saturday, 8/6 Copperman Triathlon: A Tri in the Wilderness . - Event begins at 9:00 AM
This event is sponsored by the Keweenaw Memorial Rehab & Fitness Centers and hosted at Fort Wilkins Historic State Park.
The triathlon includes a .5 Swim, 19 Bike, and 5 Run Out Doors
