Autumn at Tahquamenon Falls    ...scroll down to share comments

By
Charlie at Pasty Central on Monday, October 22, 2001 - 08:24 am:

My earliest memories of the U.P. include 3 vivid images (I must have been about 8 or 9 years old). The Mackinac Bridge - Tahquamenon Falls - and all those misspelled pastry shop signs, where they left out the "r". I saw all these billboards for "pasty" and "pasties" and wondered if these people north of the bridge were educated at all. Of course I was the one who needed to get a clue.

(By the way, here at Pasty Central we often get calls on our toll-free number from folks who want to try our "meat pastries", not realizing there is no "r" in the word PASS-tees.)

Anyway, back to Tahquamenon Falls... What a beautiful spot in the Eastern U.P., near Paradise. (And we thought God's country was here in the Keweenaw :o) Our thanks to John Olson for an up-to-date shot from this special spot.

Ok, you are all making me EXTREMELY homesick! Anyone who saw these photos wouldn't DARE ask me "How I could stand to shovel all that snow?" ...DUH!
But how can you expect us to choose from all these gorgeous pics, can't you use all of them in the calendar?? I just can't wait to order one. Come on November!! :o)

Wouldn't this make a wonderful calendar shot?

Hope all is going well with our good partners at Pasty Central. People and their "pastry" requests in Minnesota are even more common. They are learning these aren't the jelly things you eat at breakfast.

Best regards from your Minnesota partners.

By Joseph, Ohio on Monday, October 22, 2001 - 12:36 pm:

What a fine shot! Our first visit to the U.P. began with Paradise and Whitefish Point and the Falls. This site is so wonderful because of the acknowledgement of God and His creative beauty and all the comments that reflect Godly people.
Thank you very much for maintaining it with real quality. May God bless Pasty.com and Still Waters Home and all the people involved in it. And this shot gets my vote for the calendar!

By Patti, TN on Monday, October 22, 2001 - 01:40 pm:

Ok, Charlie....I already sent you my picks for the pasty cam calendar....this isn't fair to throw in another 'contender'. Please add this one to my list!

Charlie: Is there any way of removing your Pasty.com watermark other than by a crop(for personal viewing pleasure only of course), or is that a trade secret?

By julie, IN on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 - 10:44 am:

I went up there last fall around the first week of October. Walked through the bush with the smell of leaves, pine, and I think cedar, or something that smelled like it. This pic brings back great memories. I can hear the roar and feel the mist just looking at it.

This is a remarkable picture of Tahquamenon Falls. Even though I've been there, myself, and experienced the majestic beauty in the summertime, the autumn colors add so much more joy to this particular spot in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Please add this to your Michigan PC2002 calendar. This picture is meant to be seen by everyone!

Just beautiful capture of one of Michigan's natural wonders, John. I would like to see this one on the 2002 calendar. And I like the suggestion of a winter shot, same scene. How about it?

By yooper@heart, Flint, MI on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 - 08:44 am:

Graduated from N.H.S. 1983. Skipped classes to go and tramp around the falls. We visit the falls regulary, still have family in Curtis. GREAT PLACE.

By Martha Truitt, Texas on Thursday, November 29, 2001 - 04:19 pm:

I visited a friend in Michigan last year and we traveled a good portion of the Upper Peninsula. Being from south Texas, I had never seen sights like that. The leaves were turning and I even saw a little snow around Manistique. But Tahquamenon Falls literally took my breath away! And to top it all off had pasties in Paradise! You know thats right next to Heaven! I love Michigan!!!

By Jeff Coughlin,Virginia on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 - 10:23 am:

My wifes family is originally from Chassel now in Cheboygan, three years ago I had my first look at Michigan and the state gets more beautiful the further north you go.So they took me to Fort Wilkins and then back south but not until we saw Tahquamenon Falls. The U.P. IS A MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE.Thank you for those fantastic pasties!!

By Don Spycher,Sterling,Mi on Monday, February 11, 2002 - 12:57 pm:

Charlie... keep up the great work,I like the one
of the Tahquamenon falls. I like looking at all the
great pictures, that you people have taken of the
great up north area.

By Jim..Illinois on Sunday, January 26, 2003 - 10:07 am:

It is truly a beautiful picture and show us once again tha GOD is the Master of the easel and paints the beauty in our lives for us to see. All we have to do is look around us and take it all in HE will provide it for us. My congratulations to the photographer who was there at the proper time to take the beauty in and share it with the rest of us.
