Calumet Waterworks Park is on kind of a bluff above the Lake level, and there are wooden steps down to the beach. The three of us went down to check out the stones... my wife and I and my Mom, who is visiting us (all the way from Alabama).

Mama saw this butterfly very slowly moving its wings, right at the water's edge. She stooped and stretched out her hand, and the little creature hopped on. It crept across her palm, climbed up on her finger, and sat contented in the sunlight.

For just a little while I forgot about current events, and the demands and pressures and noise which clutter our lives. For a few minutes we simply enjoyed the gentle splashing of the waves on the shore, and watched our tiny friend work her wings faster and stronger until she finally flew away.

My son Mikko had a Monarch butterfly pet this week that would walk about on his hands. Just got me to thinking about the double Blessings of family and beautiful creatures so delicate and wonderful.

Thanks for the picture, Charlie. About 45years ago I spent a lot of hours throwing rocks off that concrete pier in the distance. My Mom & Dad still live just a chip shot from where you were standing.

Hi
It was a surprise to see your Mom's picture. I wish she would get a computer but I couldn't talk her into it.I told her that she'd get a letter more often from me-didn't phase her. Thanks for all the pictures. Makes me feel in touch.
