Bet you've never stood at this spot in your travels to the Keweenaw... A place I pass quite often, but have never seen it from this side. Any ideas?

By the way, if you're into Copper Country history, you won't want to miss Larry Lankton with a presentation in the old Power House in Houghton next to the Lift Bridge. (Incidentally, the shot above is NOT behind the old Power House). The lecture is Thursday, Sept 27, at 7pm. Hmmm... I've always wondered what it looks like on the inside :o)

Dont know the name of the building but it looks like the place you pass on the snowmobile trail between Calumet and Mohawk at a road crossing that goes to Copper City?

By SueH on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:15 pm:

It looks like one of the fallen smoke stacks in Peninsula Copper Industries yard next to M-26 between Hubbell and Lake Linden

By Ken from da UP on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:17 pm:

Is it one of the Quincy Mine buildings between Tamarack City and Dollar Bay? Near Mason?

By lk, MI on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:41 pm:

Is it Patrick's scrap yard?

By Scot Desert Hills AZ on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 11:32 pm:

I think it's the old mine buildings between Ahmeek and Mohawk.

By Amy,WI on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 12:50 am:

I pass that everytime I go to the UP. I'm not sure where it is, but I'm sure its by a snowmobile trail.

By Sandy-UP on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 06:16 am:

It looks like the buildings behind Dollar Bay where the snowmobile trail cuts across Sandy Bottom.

By Ralph Malph on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 07:16 am:

By YWB/ Richmond. on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 07:41 am:

There must be people inside, there are 2 trucks parked outside. HMMMM...

By GC, New York on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 08:07 am:

Probably the old C&H 3&4 mine buildings (also called Ahmeek mine) at the lower end of Mohawk.(if so its the Dry House)
It also looks somewhat like the back of the old C&H Calumet foundry.
(after 40 years things change)

By CPH Redford, MI on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 08:46 am:

Is it the old process plant on Hubbell stretch? Is that not where Mich-gan and Tech ventures processed copper oxide for some time before they found out the embesslement crisis? I think I remember A.C.& A. Howe had a piece in that pie. They were trying to sink the No# 6 in Mohawk.
Unfortunatly, they never could get all of the water out of the shafts where they beleived there was copper. I remember riding the skip down to the 6th level back in 88', and seeing the water right below us.

Calumet comes to mind....maybe near M-26?

By Kath on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 01:31 pm:

How about the Wire Mill buildings in Dollar Bay?

By V, Detroit on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 04:25 pm:

Its on M-28 between Dollar Bay and Hubble, not far from the drench that is in torch lake, not the one that is all the way in torch lake, the drench that is accessable

Yes, it is Superior Crafts outside of Mohawk, often referred to as "Patrick's". See more at their website.
