Hi, Charlie,

Here's a shoebox picture that should interest quite a few. It's the kindergarden picture, December, 1939, of what would become the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School Class of 1953. It was recently given to me by a friend since my picture had long since disappeared.

Does anybody remember the teacher's name?

Thanks, Eva, for the class picture. It brings back memories of stiff, new denim jeans, which seemed to be part of the ritual going back to class each fall.

Today I also received another shot in my inbox, this one from Sue Haralson - the present scene in Lake Linden.

Wow! Is this ONE class, with 41 kids?

The teacher was Miss MacDonald.

Miss Macdonald's name was Sarah

Wow 41 students all in one class! Miss Kathleen Wilson of Calumet came to the Mather School in Munising in the late 1930's and taught at least 40 pupils. Her class was comprised of half the fourth grade and all the fifth. Miss Wilson was a very good educator and we were so lucky she came east to be our teacher. Many thanks to you Kathleen Wilson Goss!

Hey! Nice picture, Mrs. Haralson (mom)! Lake Linden has always been a proud and patriotic village. It just goes to show you, no matter how small and secluded a town may be, the unfolding story of horrific devistation touches everyone. Peace, and God Bless America.

Of course I remember all my teachers'names as I'm sure do most people. Our kindergarden teacher was Miss MacDonald. I think I miscalculated though and the year would be 1940, not 1939.

I don't really remember this, but I imagine they brought both morning and afternoon kindergarden classes in at the same time to take the picture. Having been a school teacher, I too can't imagine a class that large of children so young. I vaguely remember that day. Amy, I am the third one in from the left in the last row. There's also a connection with pasty cam as the pretty little blond girl just about smack in the middle of the picture is Daryl Lauttila's cousin, I believe. There are some people I can't put a name on. I'd love to know who they are.

Thank you Eva. I'm glad you enjoyed the picture. Are you my aunt or a cousin? I'm married to one of Clayton's son's, Bob. The picture came together with faith, patriotism and education.

We would be cousins of one degree or another. I never could get the first, second, once removed, etc. straight. Clayton is my first cousin as our fathers were brothers. I believe you also know my brother Jim.

Hi, Sue, Eva is my sister, that would make her Clayton's first cousin, thus Bob's first cousin once removed. You, of course are one of the most important members bearing our family name, regardless of the "in-law" status.

Just saw a picture of Ms. McDonald in 1955 yearbook and her first name is Margaret.

used to spend summers in liminga in late 30's and early 40's. Do you have any pictures of that area? The schoolhouse when Mrs.Smith was teacher for 8 grades, the dance hall, the cemetery, Schmidt's bar, some of the farms - perhaps, there are pictures taken by Billy Brinkman, previous superintendent of Redridge schools.
